First Upgrade on Folding Bike (single speed)

Hello fellow folding bike riders. I purchased a second hand (almost new, stored in storage for a long time) 2017 Speed Uno and I wanted to upgrade some parts one at a time.

The first upgrade I wanted to do is change these stock parts (crankset, bottom bracket and single speed cog).

My first question, are folding bikes limited when it comes to replacement parts for a much better upgrade?

Second question, can I use the same crankset, bottom bracket etc that are used on a regular fixed/single speed bike on a folding bike?

Here's the stock spec that's currently installed on my Speed Uno.

48 T crankset

12 T sprocket

170mm crankarm length

I'm planning on getting a 44T/48T crankset, get a much better BB then changing my sprocket to 16T.

Any help/advise is highly appreciated. Thank you!

-Dan

Q1: no. Q2: yes. But... a 2-speed with a 109% gear range, effected with dual chainrings, seems like a weird way to migrate away from single-speed purity.

Thanks for the reply Antifriction and sorry for the confusion on the second question. I didn't mean to say I was going from single speed to 2 speed. What I meant to say was I'm be getting either a 48T or 44T crankset. It will still be a single speed ride for this Uno.

Welcome aboard! Q1 - upgrade away. Q2 - bottom brackets, swappable chainrings, headsets, all upgradeable. Look up litepro,...they have some good stuff.
