72/3 Schwinn World Voyageur

So, an orange WV recently came up for sale that is my size and it needs work. I haven't seen it in person yet but pictures show that it needs the normal replacements (chain, cables, tape, etc.. It looks almost original. The FD looks replaced but period correct and it's not a Titlist derailleur. The frame is good and the chrome looks good as well. Would you all pay $75 ... Oh, the kickstand is with it too. LOL Let men now your thoughts... EDIT: PICTURES ADDED, PLEASE SEE BELOW.

My money says the stem and seatpost are likely stuck. For $75, you could do worse. I'd try to get it for less.

^What he said but I wouldn't push to hard, certainly still worth $75! I bet even that paint would polish up. What a fun project and desirable bike!

Thanks for the note. I plan on checking both before handing them cash. I'll pass if either is stuck. I have dealt with that before and what a beating.

I am lucky enough to own 2 of these bikes !!

An Orange( in a 9 condition) and a Yellow in an 8 condition.

Pretty rare bike only made one year. 1973

VERY SMOOTH ride .

Grab the bike NOW

As long as the frame is not bent, fork etc.

And......as others have said....seat post and handlebars can move.

I have always got the handlebars to move, and seat posts 99% of the time.

Pretty sure the seat post is steel , along with the frame, so it will come out. Might take a few minutes .

The seat post stuck issue is when the frame is steel and the post is aluminum. This causes a chemical reaction that " welds" the post to the frame if left unchecked and not greased.

Good Luck and hope you get it.!!

You will not be sorry

I ended up passing on the bike. I looked it over pretty thoroughly but it was in really poor condition. Paint was really faded, decals were almost all gone. It needed a lot more work than I have time to do. I would rate it about a "3" condition. The Front derailleu was not original but everything else appeared to be. There will be other opportunities just have to know when to say no.

I may have thrown a lowball at it, the paint will probably buff out nicely.

In fact I just picked up a bare frame of the same and just about have a build done on it.

Mr. 66 Really nice and perhaps it could have buffed out. It needed a lot more too. It's ok, there will be another down the road..
