Avid Juicy 5 Callipers compatibility?

Hey all.

I am rebuilding a mountain bike for a friend, and am hoping to spend as little as possible. The bike is currently built with Avid Juicy 5 brakes. The callipers are in pretty good shape, but the levers have been bashed to heck. I have some SRAM Level T levers in the parts bin. Would they work with the Juicy 5s?

Thanks in advance!

Those are the worst brakes ever manufactured. Any inexpensive Shimano hydraulic disc setup will be a drastic improvement, assuming you like your friend.

Avoid old Avid and SRAM hydraulic brakes like the plague. As Polaris OBark said Shimano brakes would be a good improvement and even the low end stuff is likely to be better than some of those old SRAM brakes. Their new stuff is good, I wouldn't personally run it on any of my bikes but if I ever got a fully built bike that came with it I probably wouldn't jettison it right away.
