Gipiemme/Fiamme tubular wheels
I really hate shipping wheels. I was about to stow these in the attic, but then I thought maybe someone who is going to Eroica would want them and I could just hand them over.
I got these wheels as part of a bulk purchase years ago, and the fact is I'm never going to use them. Near as I can tell, they've never been used. There's not a spec of glue on them. I'm asking$150 $100 or best offer for pickup, either in Beaverton, OR or at Eroica, California next month. If no one buys them that way, there is a shipping option I'd be willing to do, but it ends up being close to $100.
The corncob Regina CX freewheel and Vittoria Rally tires (also unused) are included.

They were some serious eye candy to some poor racer with shallow pockets back in the day. Great looking wheels but I have a tad bit of an imbalance myself.

My Opus III came to me with a set of those hubs on it. I can't say anything bad about them, they worked great for years and I've kept the wheels around as a reliable backup set. Nice setup for someone to grab, GLWS!

I think that's the dilemma with these wheels. They're pretty nice, but they aren't really the part anybody is looking for to complete a dream build. I'm just hoping to find someone who will be excited to have them.

Andy,
We used those hubs for RAAM in 1982 and they were quite nice and worked well. I'm not going to be in CA anytime soon but I'd likely be interested if no one comes through for you. Smiles, MH

Well, I guess my original price was too high. The wheels are sold. Thanks everyone.

Fiame Rims
NO! Far superior!
The original Fiame red an yellow label rims were made of a soft alloy that wore quickly and taco'd easily. Also the sidewalls were slightly bulged and it took brake blocks a long time to wear into them to get good contact.
Note how nice and square the sidewalls are. When Fiame changed to that rectangular logo about 1975 they also changed to better extrusions and a stronger aluminum alloy. They started labeling them ERGAL.

Otherwise their history preceded them and they were avoided, better rims were at hand and cheaper.

I'd really like to know more about the old Fiamme rims. Can I pick your guy's brains more about them?
