After reading online conversations, chatting at the local bike shop, and other bicyclist, I have been told that all single speeds have either a horizontal drop out in the rear wheel, or a chain tensioner. I have neither, but the bike mechanic replaced the chain with a half-link, and warned me that something bad might happen, like the chain breaking, etc.
Why, what's the big deal? I like it like this.

if you like it,,no problem, I have seen a fixed gear bike made on a frame with vertical drop outs,,just a difficult thing to do. I was looking for a nice frame to build a fixie, I saw some nice ones with vertical drop outs and stayed away, there are many problems you could run into building a fixie, why buy a frame knowing it will be tedius to get the chain to the right tension?

just be mindfull of the chain , old style chains the Pins stick up proud past the side Plates, The newer Derailleur type chains The pins are Flush .

I of course dont know what was Used ..

You can get 1/8" chains that are entirely made up of half links too.

Machined in Nor Cal, White eno hub ENO ? White Industries .. uses an eccentric to get the chain right.

Or on the cheap.. a Magic combination is just the right tooth count combination, to get with in 1/2".. and a half link, It is that half inch.
