Motobecane Grand Jubilee

I will post more later but I picked up this bike simply because of the rear derailleur. It didn't hurt that I enjoy Motos and the bike is a 24". I love the huret downtube shifters and the jubilee easily does the 28 tooth cog. Lots of chain wrap too.

Beautiful bike. What grips are you going with?

I'll wrap with cushioned tape where a grip would be. I put corks in the bar ends.

Nice- looks like it's sporting some pretty fat tires, too.

Shake down cruise required getting a battery and zip ties for the cateye velo 5 it came with and also repairing the right brake lever. All that done though and it rocks. Quick handling and a solid climber. Gonna be the grocery and city exploring bike for a while.

Are the brake levers (the clamps) sized for road bars or "mtb" bars? What are they?

Old diacomps. I usually stretch the clamp or sometimes use parts from a road bike to make it fit a 23.8 bar. I don't have barcons but they would fit in those bars.

Sweet bike. I bet someone snapped the front derailleur tightening the mounting bolt. The Jubilee front was an extremely fragile unit.

I've got one but I'm afraid to use it. Plus the spirt rocks.

The Jubilee front derailleur was originally spec'ed for Trek 720. After dozens broke on the assembly line, the Simplex SLJ front derailleur replaced it. I saved one of the broken ones, and when I came upon a derelict Jubilee front derailleur with an intact clamp, I bought it, drove the pin out of the clamp hinge, and swapped the intact clamp for the broken one.

That's awesome, where did you find that puppy? I've been on vacation for a couple weeks so I haven't seen local CL for a while. If it was there, I missed it :-(

Where are you playing now? Was hoping to catch you sometime over at Unum, but they closed.
