Sora 9-s shifter, will Tiagra 10-s RD work?

Got a Defy 3 which sees daily use since 2016 and keeps me fit at 50's. The unimpressive Sora RD now gave up, and am liking the looks of Tiagra (10-speed) RD-4600 or even RD-4700ss.
Q1: Will any of these RD work with my Shimano Sora STI 9-speed shifter? or should I replace with Sora RD-3000?
Q2: If I go with Tiagra should I replace cassette and/or chain?
Thanks in advance!

Can’t use Tiagra RD-4700 because it has a different actuation ratio.

With exceptions, up to 9 speed road and 10 speed mountain Shimano derailleurs will work with 9 speed Shimano shifters as they all have the same 1.7 pull ratio.

This is true, other 10 spd road derailleurs could work but not Tiagra 4700.

Q2- Not knowing what cassette and chain you have AND what condition they are in I can't say whether replacing is recommended. Usually replacements are driven by wear/condition issues or a need/want for different gear ratios. I would suggest figuring this out before buying any other drivetrain parts to insure you get compatible stuff. Andy

I think you may have that backwards. I'm pretty sure mountain 10-speed is when Shimano switched to Dynasys - which has a much different pull ratio than Shimano's early 1.7 standard.

Even then, Tiagra 4700 is an exception; it's 10-speed, but uses the newer Shimano 11-speed road pull ratio.
