I ordered a pair of Vittoria Rubino Pro tires from ProBikeKit.

When my order came there was a pair of Vittoria Open Corsa evo cx in the package instead.

My question is should I go through the hassle of exchanging them or just use the Corsas?

I will be using them as an everyday tire in Northen New Jersey.

I know the Corsas are Much more expensive but if they're a more flat prone or fast wearing tire is it worth it?

For the price you got them, I would run them into the ground and just get the right tires the next time around.

You basically got a free upgrade. If you don't like your tires sell them on local craiglist and then order the correct ones. Or you can email PBK and tell them they sent you the wrong thing and that they should pay for return shipping AND they should ship you out the correct ones for free.

Or maybe they'll just tell you to keep them and send you the correct order. The tires you were sent are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the crappy rubinos.

Thanks everyone. I'll definitly keep the Open Corsas then. I just wanted to make sure they weren't a fragile race day only tire.

I just took my set of these tires off today after using them since the end of August and about 1400 miles. They were great while they lasted, but starting in the beginning of November I had 5 flats during the past month. Reading the reviews on RoadBikeReview.com I saw that others have the same experience for the most part, so I took them off and put on something tougher. (BTW, the only reason I bought these was that I had an emergency and needed a new set for an event the next day, and this was, of course, the only thing the LBS had at the time.)

If you're looking for just a commuter tire, with flat protection however - the corsas are not it. At 290 TPI, double that of the PR2 + more.

I run Open Corsa CXs exclusively and NEVER flat. I honestly cannot remember when I had my last flat with these tires. Guys in our groups who run PR2s flat with much greater frequency.

As for wear, you can get 1500-2000 miles out of a pair if you rotate them every 500 miles.

Corsas are very nice tires.

I love them, but I found they wear very fast, and in my experience, are more prone to punctures and flatting that their other robust tires like rubinos, etc. YMMV

I ride them everyday. Great tires, but like said above, they do wear out relatively fast. They ride so well though, I think they're worth it.

Have well over 1,000 miles on a set of OCs. Initially on my main ride, and once I put a set of Ultremos on, the same set was relegated to duty on my backup bike. Still going strong with no problems ... on NJ roads, as well. Except for my "winter wheels" (Gatorskins) and indoor riding (old tires), these Open Corsas have been through training rides, group rides, and races.

I paid $36.50 each for the Vittoria Open Corsa ECO CX tires at probikekit.com. No Tax! No shipping to the USA! (I understand it might take a month to get them here.) Anyway, the guy at the LBS has been telling me what great tires these are (along with the Vittoria Open Pave) but his price is $65 per tire + 8.5% tax. He will usually match prices but said that there is noway he could match the PBK price.

I'm excited to try these things out. It sounds like most have had a good experience with them. If you like them, maybe PBK is the place to get your replacements... or, if you guys know of an even better price, let me know!
