Casati Monza Gold Line R
Here's a stunning Casati that #Andy_K was extremely gracious to send my way. The bike is virtually flawless. Not sure if it's original or a repaint. Perhaps some members can weigh in on that. The parts are a mix of Campy components, some of them polished. I put on a new matching Concor saddle as if it ain't pink enough. The bike is so loud that it has been noticed by spy satellites.
I love being a member of this forum. The advice and assistance that have been given my way make me feel so indebted. I thank everybody, and of course, on this thread, Andy.

Looks nice! I had forgotten that it had the high flange hubs.
What size seat post did it end up needing? More importantly, how does it ride?

Damn, that is sweet! Paint looks original to me. That pearl would seem pretty hard to duplicate. And you're right, it's in fantastic condition for original. I like the little details - is there a "C" cutout in the BB shell? What did you use to guide the derailleur cables through the shell? Also, I'm looking for a binder bolt to fit my seat lug binder as a normal Campy one is too big - what did you end up using? Any issues with running the rear brake cable?
I would guess mine used to look similar to yours before the sun did its dirty work:
I sold it off some 3-5 years back and only just re-purchased it completely by chance about 2 weeks ago. Just received my decal set from the UK, so it's time for me to get going on prepping my frame for a repaint - or not...

The De Rosa had a 26.8 Campagnolo post that's in excellent condition, but it needed a 27.2. I've also got a Gipiemme rear derailleur that would match what's on the front there if that appeals to you. Let me know if you're interested in either or these.
I haven't ridden the De Rosa yet either. I've been dragging my feet getting the parts together, and now the weather has turned on me. I may not get a chance to take it out until July.

IMG_2250 by A C, on Flickr[/IMG]Sorry I can't help with the other questions as the bike came complete except for seat post, saddle, and pedals. Although assembled, every nut, bolt, and screw was loose. It seems the seller just put it together to sell a complete looking bike.

Too bad about the weather. That's certainly one thing that we don't have to worry about much in SoCal.

Thanks for replying to my questions. I am expecting a bit of a PITA to get the brake cable routed, and it's proving difficult to find the correctly-sized seat binder bolt. But I have plenty of time to get going on this project.
Here's the pic of my BB shell - yours has the later version with those large slots. I guess I expected to see something similar as most of the rest of the frame is so similar. The seatstay caps, lugs, fork crown, brake cable guides are all nearly identical.

Try blowing a bit of light sting or dental floss thru the frame with compressed air OR pulling it through with a vacuum cleaner suction. Depending on how open the ends of the top tube are, either of those methods may work. Then use that line to pull the brake cable.

Funny thing about that saddle. I bought that off an Ebay auction for another bike some time ago thinking it was red. That's the color in the pictures. The saddle arrived and it was pink. Read the description on the auction and sure enough, it said pink. Kept the saddle in the parts drawer until it came handy for this Casati.
Lesson learned. Colors on your monitor are not always accurate. And always read the descriptions on auctions carefully.
