Rim brake area has scratch mark

The area where my v brakepads use to stop my rims i noticed has a scratch marks all around the rim.i also noticed the brakepads always have a scratch marking too in the middle of the pads.i use a file tool to clean the pads and then use alchool to clean up after with a sock.

The rims look like theres marks all over the rim.i cleaned the rim with alcohol before testing my brakes.

The pads have a shiny mark on them after i cleaned them after i was testing my brakes.

It's very common. Something was on the pads for a while. Just clean the pads, often, fine sandpaper will not take as much off the pads, they will last longer.
Also try Cool stop brand salmon colored pads. They are softer.

Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but you will also notice abrasion on the tires where they touch the ground.

I think that the "scratch mark" is a brake track wear indicator, due to its depth and uniform appearance. Some rims have drilled holes for the same purpose. https://road.cc/content/feature/2389...em-last-longer The second photo looks identical to your rim. .When the groove/hole is level with the rest of the brake track the rime should be replaced.
