Hi, new and from Belgium
Hi Everyone
Bought an old Stevens crossbike a while ago that needed some attention and turning into my main bike.
Now looking back I've noticed tinkering with my bike Im enjoying it more and more, having looked up a gazilion things on the internet. Been to the local bikekitchen a few times as well.
Especially have a soft spot for modding oldish bikes into something unique and seeing how much bike can be scored for not too much money.
I've even been finding myself every now and then where I can't help taking pictures of bikes that are parked in the city and look like they're assembled from parts.
Or just staring at peoples bikes trying to take in everything that's going on with the bike.
So yes
I guess I'm starting to like bike
Cheers

Welcome, from SE Wisconsin, USA.
Seems like you're a bike tinkerer.
In bigger cities, at least in the USA, we have bike co-ops, where bicycles are often built from parts: https://commoncycle.org/what-is-a-bike-co-op/
Maybe that's what you're seeing?
Anyway, from my visits to Antwerp and Brussells, you live in one of the top cycling countries in the world; be proud!
I'm always rooting for your countryman, Wout van Aert, who is recovering nicely from his wreck a month or two back.
Enjoy your stay!

Yes definitely the co-ops, which is how it started for me indeed. We even have 3 of them even though city I live in quite small (Ghent)
Its also the reason why I went for an old bike with a billion kms on it. The idea was to learn to get it in order myself and here I am bitten by the bug it seems.
Its funny you mention living in a place like Belgium, growing up and living life for 42yrs without having much affinity with bikes. My family was also very anti-cyclist and latched on to the bad rep cyclists tend to get (sometimes rightfully so).
But on the other hand im opening up to the whole deal and starting to develop an interest in roadbikes and racing even.
I'm even aware of what you are talking about when you mention Wout van Aert!
Looking forward to exchanging with you all and learning and tinkering more.
