Speaking of new bikes I haven't said much about it because I was trying to keep low expectations regarding shipping dates but I just got confirmation that the frames have arrived for the Otso Waheela C that I pre-ordered a couple months ago and they should be shipping any day now.
I finally decided to pull the trigger on a new gravel bike a couple months ago because the 13-year-old Specialized Tricross I've been riding for the past 6 years has been a valiant steed but I'd like more tire clearance, a more stable geometry, and disc brakes. Of course the first bikes on my list were out of stock until 2077; came across the Waheela and even though it hadn't been on my radar I realized it pretty much checked all my boxes plus it has the advantage of being a bike that you're not going to see a lot of other people riding.
I've been accumulating parts and accoutrements while I'm waiting -- titanium King Cages, a bolt on top tube bag from Cedaero, some new Sidi mtb shoes, etc. Going to try the new Pirelli Centurato Gravel H 45mm tires on it, people say they're extremely fast rolling.
Of course I need to do a lot of work on the motor. It puts out a shockingly low amount of horsepower given the weight.

Cool! Otso is a MN company. I used to have an Otso hat that I'd won in a drawing at a gravel ride, but I left it on top of the car and it blew off when I got on the freeway.

One of the factors that tipped the scales was when I called them to ask some questions and I talked to a real human who rides bikes and knew all of the details to answer my questions. I got a good vibe. Plus a local guy who operates a mobile bike repair business happens to be one of their authorized dealers so that helps, although I didn't realize that until after I'd already ordered it.

Look at that nifty "Quartz Movement" clock. I wonder how easy it would be to put an eight-track player in there?

Are you into collecting old American cars that are not fun to drive and that will never be worth much?

My favorite Buick when I was a ute. My dad was a Buick man, he drove out here from Cleveland in a 53 Buick in 1956. 2 brothers went with him, the rest of us flew.

Not for me. 5 days out of 7, it's an alarm waking me. The other two, I wake up at much the same time, but without...well, alarm, really.

Where I grew up, we saw ads for Toys R Us on the Baltimore and Washington stations, but there were none within easy reach, so we were merely taunted with their existence, knowing that somewhere, there were stores with aisle after aisle of toys we would never see.
OTOH, when my kids were little, there was a big Toys R Us we used to go to all the time. Lucky so-and-sos
