Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Market value of S-works Tarmac SL4

I found this bike online and the seller says it's 2015 s-works Tarmac SL4 with shimano ultegra components.
However, I can't find any bike matching that description on bicycle blue book
Does anyone know the market value for this bike?

Depends on your location somewhat.

I have an older s works, & that is what I would upgrade to, if I upgraded- just before the change to the concealed seatpost clamp.

Good choice, IMO.

Not a lot but I am sure the seller thinks it's gold. $1500 or less would be reasonable.

If you are still considering this bike some other things I'd want to know about is why it has Ultegra shifters. I thought S-Works bikes always had the highest tier components on them and for a Shimano group that will always be DuraAce.

Though for the age it's conceivable that the original shifters needed to be replaced and Ultegra's are a little less pricey. Or it's possible the bare frame and fork was bought and someone built it up with what kept them in their budget.

Certainly it didn't originally come with those wheels. Are they better than the wheels that would have come on a S-Works bike? That's a toss up for me. Zipp's got a good reputation but the Roval Rapide's that it would have come from the factory with are not shabby either at that tier level.

I also will have thought that the S-works version would have been Di2. This isn't Di2... is it?

So all that and more goes into determining what it's worth.

Specialized's website shows that colorway as a 2014 model, not 2015, available as frame/fork, or built up with Red, Dura Ace mech, or Dura Ace Di2. The photos won't load for me on the frame page, but a quick search will turn it up.

This seems kind of weird - why does anyone care "what it came with"? it is what it is. S-Works SL-4 frame and fork with Ultegra mechanical rim brake with old Zipp 404's. I'll reiterate - $1500 or less. It was a nice ride but everything on it is dated and has little market value anymore.

Trying to give the OP more to dicker with. At 1500 bucks, that's still a 1000 more than I'd be willing to pay for a used bike of almost any age.

Only if it was all original, hardly ridden and virtually museum quality would I even want a used bike at what most value them at.
