3Rensho Super Record Export Panto + Dura Ace Ax
First spotted the 3Rensho on Instagram back in 2014.
Then in May of 2016 or so, BikeForums member Vonruden listed a Zunow for sale. For whatever reason, I had the overwhelming feeling that I'd previously seen this exact Zunow somewhere in the past. After some sleuthing, it turned out I'd seen it on Vonruden's Instagram feed and this 3Rensho was in the background.
I decided to do something I don't normally do, I contacted Vonruden and asked if he'd consider selling the 3Rensho. He replied that he had no plans to do so but would let me know if that ever changed. About 6 months later I received a message that he'd decided to part with it. We exchanged several messages, he had second thoughts and wanted to think it over, but to my delight, he chose to pass it on to me.
Turns out the frame was repainted by Cyclart at some point in the past. Which explains the decals. I believe the decals are meant for a track frame, the road versions are somewhat smaller. That being said, they look great and the repaint overall is excellent. The frame is coated in a fairly thin layer of paint, very close to original in appearance but with a hint more shine due to the clear coat the originals didn't receive.

My usual M.O. is to completely strip down a bike, clean, grease, lube and replace anything needing the slightest bit of attention with NOS or close to it bits. Not the case here. Haven't changed a thing. I rather enjoy the patina, the scuffs, the scrapes, the specs of surface rust on the chrome, the cracks in the brake hoods... It all adds to the story, the history of this particular bike.
I did add some missing pieces however. A Shimano Ax aero bottle and cage, the little blue cones on the brake cable pinch bolts and in the parts bin sits a Ax seat post with the missing set screw needed for the pantographed post. She needs nothing else.
I've been tempted to swap out the stem and handlebar combo for my Nitto CrystemBlue and Nitto Aerodynamic ADB X to add to the aero componentry but I've decided not to. And possibly sometime down the line I will replace the Stronglight headset with the correct Dura Ace headset and aero cap.
Next up... An original pink 3Rensho Super Record Export. Still undecided on the build, but probably full Campagnolo Super Record.

When does this date to?
It's a beautiful bike, but I'm a bit disappointed they didn't go further with the aero'ness.

Sexiest bike I've seen posted in quite some time. Wow.

Totally bonkers
Although I will admit that bottle reminds me somehow of a liquid container you might see in a hospital.

That is beautiful! Is it me, an optical illusion or are the seat stays flattened?

Part of the aero craze thing; the forks are arrow as well. I actually prefer when they go further with it.

Exceptional color combo. I would have a hard time not searching out blue anno hubs or getting them annodized. And be over budget of course

Really great bike. I don't recall ever seeing Dura Ace AX components. The brakes are pretty cool. Only color nit piks I'd change are yellow saddle, silver stem (maybe with same yellow engraving), yellow bar tape and yellow toe straps. That's about all I can think of.
Edit: The pedals (and cranks) are pretty damn cool also.
Edit2: I used to have a Guerciotti with the same color pain the decals in the late 1980's. I need a time machine to go back to then and ride my old bike....

The only bike that I have ever regret selling, however it did enabled me to buy the Seafoam green Weigle.
It looks stunning as ever!!! I want buy back dibs if you ever decide to sell.
Glad it went to a good home.

Thanks for all the positive feedback!
Vonruden - You definitely would have first dibs! And FYI, you have one of the nicest collections of steel frame bikes. All just top shelf rides. And all my size haha.
The pink one in the background is up next...
Just moved in to my new place when this picture was taken, had all the bike stuff laying around... Realized I had a problem haha
Front to back: purple 3Rensho as seen in this thread, Konno Specialized Allez (Full Campagnolo Super Record), Konno Specialized Allez frame, Specialized Allez track, Konno Specialized Allez (previously Drewed), blue 3Rensho Super Record Export (very nice repaint, original decals awaiting application), green 3Rensho Super Record Export (modified with internal cable routing, possible dropout replacement), and finally the pink 3Rensho Super Record Export. Not pictured, a recently acquired Konno Specialized Sequoia, really excited about that build. Still undecided on the component group however.

Beautiful bike! It's possibly the first one I've seen that Dura Ace AX looks completely right on. It all works and i see the futuristic vision! That anodized and pantographed stem is the cherry on top, and really makes the bike. Please don't change that.

Amazing bike, you truly have a masterpiece there. I cannot imagine @Vonruden deciding to part with it, other than enabling the Weigle sea foam green beauty he scored. Hold on to that one.

So every now and then I come across an old picture of this bike. Although a historically non-significant bike (no racing pedigree or anything), there is an online history as it appears from time to time. I guess it caught more than just my eye along the way haha.
Found this just today on our own BF member's @CV-6 Flickr account, possibly dating back to 2008 at Velo Culture when they were in San Diego, 3Rensho Super Record Export

But I do have to note that bikes like this will always have a following online, and doubly so if it gets passed along from enthusiast to enthusiast (or should I say curator to curator?). I would imagine I have a couple that might get some additional love on the interwebs were I ever able to stop being such a selfish prick and sell one along to somebody else
I like your current collection of projects; looks as though you got bitten hard by the Asian bug! Those are some fine frames with which to build some exquisite bikes.
