1988-1989 Bianchi worth ?
I was recently approached by someone asking me if I would be interested in buying an old Bianchi road bike that they purchased new in 88-89.
The owner believes its the Bianchi Limited with full Shimano 105 groupo MADE IN ITALY, but I am unsure. He claims to have ridden it for a few years and it has been sitting in indoor storage for the last 15 years and recently pulled out.
Here are the specs to his knowledge:
- Full Shimano 105
- 14 speed gruppo including brakes and clip pedals
- The bike is completely original except for computer, new tires (Continental 700x23) and upgraded chainrings that replaced the original Biopace rings which will be included with the sale.
- Rims are FIR EL19 with 36 spokes.
- Cogs are 13 - 21 and current chainrings are 39/52
- All components including headset are original 105s
Owner wants $375 CND or best offer
What do you guys think its worth?

Still learning
I can't attest to that specific model, but for a Shimano 105 equipped bike and a Columbus tube set frame, IMHO, FMV would be closer to $300 +/- US.

If you live in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal, then $375.00 is about right. Anywhere else, in Canada, $250.00 would seem more likely. Of course, if you really like the bike, and it is a good fit for you and you can afford it, then buy it and pay full asking price, if you have to. The bicycle will offer good ride quality and stay, forever, in the collectable category of vintage road bicycles - meaning it will hold its value, and, perhaps, even appreciate in value.
