Mercier Service des courses full Campagnolo

Hi there,
me again with another find. I found this bike for sale for 350€.
For what I can see if full Reynolds 531(I believe the fork is too, am I wrong? There are no decals on it) also fully equipped with Campagnolo components. It also has a Cinelli handlebar I believe.

Paint isn’t again in the best conditions.

Is this a worthy find? Any help much appreciated thank you.

That's a nice bike! Race number tab, Campagnolo Nuovo Record components, a very nicely made frame. If that were in my neighborhood in my size for $350 euros (about $390 US) I'd be on my way to buy it right now.

it seems you have a thing for pink Merciers

since there are also the rose pink ones you shall need decide which hue ye prefereth...

birthday looks to be close of nineteen and seventy-four

one easy check you could make if you consider wheels original would be to read the date on the inner face of the hub axle lock nuts

I am a little bit stuck with the pink bike that’s true truth is I can’t seem to find one in good shape that is also a nice quality build.

For some of the insights seems like this could be it! Let’s see if I can secure it

Thank you both!

I'd be tempted by this bike at this price. It's a bit on the high side given the condition of the bike but pink Mercier racing bikes command a premium. It's a bit beat up cosmetically but it looks structurally sound (as least as far as I can tell from the pics) and the parts mix is very nice.

Is this another one that would need to be shipped to you? With the cosmetic condition of the frame, I'd definitely want to thoroughly inspect the frame before buying. Otherwise, the price isn't too terrible for what you're getting. Those pink ones are tempting, aren't they? I'd like to have one myself one day.

They’re very tempting! You can see how many months it’s stuck in my mind to get one.

I will get a friend to collect this one for me so should be easier to check it. Also won’t be charged more shipping.

Would a repaint be a big sacrilege on this?

should you elect to respray, replica transfer sets readily available

decision could await an exam following clean and polish

one thing to be aware of with a respray is that scratches to components which "blend right in" in her present nick will really stand out following a refinish...

Brake levers are C-Record era but are Campagnolo.

bike deserves a full servicing.

I like the examples 10 years earlier but I have Grey hair.

Surprising (or not surprising by the number of attempts I’ve made until now to get a Mercier) I couldn’t secure the vélo. Guy promised to sell it to me and then on the day before the pick up told me was sold already to a friend of his

This crusade is becoming harder and harder!

Thanks for all your insights on this!
