Weight-Weenieism
At what point does the bottomless descent in to the black abyss of weight weenie madness begin?

It begins as soon as you take action on any of those first thoughts of making your bike lighter
I don't consider being a weight weenie to already be in the manic phase. Perhaps we need another term for those.

Whew! Thank God I only purchased a luggage scale.
I replaced the metal 1/2" diameter cap on top of my stem with a plastic one...
Trimmed the length of my titanium recessed front brake nut by 1/4"...
Switched to ceramic bearings...
I love triggering people who can't fathom doing such things or spending such sums to do so!

Lucky in my former bout with ww-ism, I used a digital fish scale and the postage scale at work before I started using our kitchen scale

I've got a postage scale too, which I used to precisely weigh my boys' pinewood derby cars.

If you're a weight weenie, you should also be a Crr-weenie. If you're weight-weenie but not a Crr-weenie, then it means your weight-weenism is all for show, so that's the point at which you should worry.

I drew the line where it was going to cost the same as my entire bike to save another 0.75 kg.

If someone develops a $30 "scale" that reads Crr on a bike in the shop, Crr-weenieism will be a thing.

My warning sign was when I pulled out the postage scale to choose which parts to throw on my "climbing" bike build(Canyon Ultimate SLX.) The bike build was originally supposed to be a budget build, so I did limit myself from descending into full on weight-weenieism. Most of the components were stuff I already had laying around. I ended up at the 15lb mark...and that's with not sacrificing comfort for weight with things like the not-lightweight bars and seat. Also not the lightest groupset I could've spec'ed(mix of rim brake Ultegra 6800/8000.)
It's around 3lbs lighter than my "main" road bike, the only place that this difference is noticeable is on climbs. In reality, it's only a matter of seconds, but the perception is of liveliness and speed on the climbs. My racing disciplines lie off-road, so any performance benefit is almost meaningless, but I do enjoy the feeling of a "fast" bike.

I’m sure I’ll regret this, but what’s “Crr?”

The C stands for coefficient. It's the number by which RR (rolling resistance) is multiplied to arrive at the total amount of energy lost.
