I think Street sellers may well be illegal due to presumably skirting regulation and taxes. I suppose it depends on the weedy source. But, I think for the most part they're ignored in the POT states. At least I've noticed apparently a lot more tolerance since legalization.
Sorry, the ad was posted in Manhattan, New York. It's plainly for some kind of marijuana delivery service. I just thought it was funny.

Can you imagine paying $4500 for a used bike? I mean, how much faster do you think you're going to go?

About 180 mph faster than you would on a good solo ride?

Frankly, I'm amazed the seller is that clueless. There are so many Lime Bikes around almost anybody would recognize this immediately. Bet the first person to want to see it arrives with the cops

It looks like it was setup as some kind of a trick bike allowing the rider to spin the handlebars. I'm surprised the front end isn't perfectly symmetrical.

It is probably not made for 50 MPH hillside descents... unless one counts those concrete jungles some cities have put in.

You'd think rather than simply scratching off the decals, they'd paint it jet black.

Is it possible the bike share companies are selling the trashed bikes in their fleets? It would seem like a dangerous thing to do, as the bike styles are often very distinctive.

And, of course, the hubs, wheels, cranks, etc are worth more than $45.

That will be something that we'll likely see, as the bike share fleets of thousands of bikes age to 5, 10, or 15 years, and the companies deem them too expensive to maintain. Cheaper to just buy new from China.

Perhaps Craigslist is a new way to rid oneself of dockless bikes that get dumped on one's property.

I won't call it lipstick on a pig, but I will call it lipstick on a bike that did not need lipstick. I just posted one in the "Are you looking..." thread for a quarter of the price and thought it was slightly overpriced.

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...564757494.html

1985 Raleigh Portage Vintage Road Bike; 59/56cm; Stock 650B - $2100 (NE Portland)

condition: like new
cryptocurrency ok

For sale is a bicycle I never expected to sell. But, times change and "never" seems like an awfully long time.

Back in 1985, the Raleigh Portage was the upper echelon of the Raleigh touring line. In fact, this was the very first, modern, mass produced 650B bike.

The goal for this build was a stout, upright commuter I could ride in comfort only 650B tires could provide. But, being built in such a way that I could easily replace a few items to turn it back into a serious, long-haul touring juggernaut.

This bicycle has had a full restoration starting with frame alterations by Travis Cooper of Cooper Cycles. Modern spacing, chain slap mount, cable stops and other small additions were worked into the frame. Then, sandblasted and painted by a pro here in Portland with custom decals placed under the clear coat were also added. All components were selected with a "spare no expenses" attitude. All top-end equipment. The wheel were professionally hand built to gorgeous Campagnolo "Sheriff's Star" replicas and the Brooks saddle is still waiting to be broken in by the right owner.

Since the restoration, less than 100 shakedown miles logged on the frame and components. Currently, the Portage has the chain guard removed although it will come with the purchase.

This bicycle is in flawless condition and a true survivor. Its pedigree will only increase with value along with still giving you plenty of comfortable commuting or a tour across the nation, without batting an eyelash, if you choose.

Wow.

Even the saddle seems to be wood.

The late Sheldon Brown's Gaspe stone saddle looks just slightly ... harder.

That wooden bike is absolutely gorgeous.

I was thinking it was hand crafted, but apparently it is being commercially made:
https://www.coco-mat.com/store/gr_en...-bike-coco-mat

Still, I doubt many of the bikes are around, so it would be hard to hide if one is actually trying to ride it.

If someone chucks it into the Cape Fear River, would it float?

I think these are even more attractive...
