How would the 33 fix triathlon drafting?
I frequent slowtwitch. Just so much good info and talk.
I always read about drafting penalties in tri-bike triathlons and "packs". But, how do you get 2000 people on a 56mi bike course without some clusters? How do you weed out the cheats from natural statistical norm of small groups coinciding and nobody wants to give up free time just because of how many people are on course?
I present it to the 33. How would you fix it?
I don't know. It's traditionally draft illegal tri bike. Maybe go to only draft legal road bike?
No idea what they do if they want that many people on course and to stay draft illegal with tri bikes. They're experimenting with sensors on your bike to detect drafting by follow distance that would penalize time automatically to your finish time.

Everyone attaches a proximity sensor to the front of their bike with a timer that is enabled when you within 10-12’ of another rider. That total time gets added to your bike split.

I'd change the rule to allow it. I see little point to rules or laws that cannot be enforced. At the nobody cares level, just allow it and be done.

It's in the rules.
If you need to pass someone in front of you a "timer" starts the moment you enter the lead riders draft zone. You have iirc 15 seconds to overtake the lead riders front wheel. If you fail to overtake within that time you are required to slow down and exit the draft zone before attempting again. However, if you do overtake the lead riders front wheel the time clock now switches to the former lead rider and now they have 15 seconds to get out of your draft.
Repeat as necessary. In practice usually one rider is stronger and just rides away.

I am more concerned about doping than drafting in the tri ranks.
