Help a newb pick a road bike
Yes, I am a newb. Been riding a hybred for 18 months and now I am ready to move up to a "real" bike.
I think what I want is an entry level carbon fiber Endurance Road Bike, looking to spend about $2k. I hear good things about Shimano 105 stuff, rim brakes are good enough for me.
Do the experienced folks on this forum have a recommendation of what to buy?

Where, more than what.. #1 pick a Bike Shop .. that you like for their service .
#2 then test ride bikes there for size.. some places , like here, nobody wants carbon, Because of cost.
so the one in the store mostly just got picked up to feel its light weight, and took a few years to actually sell.

Depends on if you are comfortable picking out a bike on your own or not.
Both options have positives and negatives.

If you are switching from a hybrid to a road bike the first thing i'd recommend is finding what fits you.
Some bikes (like that Felt) are designed for serious speed riding---short head tube, long top tube, big bar-saddle drop ... great if you have the strength and flexibility, and if you need that set-up to go really fast. Painful after a while for some.
Unless tow grand is chump change for you ... (in which case buy three or four bikes and sell the ones you don't like) then go to a bunch of shops and ride a bunch of bikes. Try to imagine what the riding position might feel like after a few hours ...
I rode a Cannondale 6-13 for a while which was super-comfortable until about the two-hour marks when my neck and shoulders would suddenly start screaming from being overstressed by the long, low riding position.
