Before and after white stem (pics)
I posted a while ago about putting a white stem on a white bike, with some seriously professional photo manipulation skills to imagine what it would look like, haha. Here's some before and after pics for your amusement.
I also installed the Easton ec90 bar I bought. I haven't ridden it yet, but I'm really looking forward to the classic drop shape over the mangled "anatomic" shaped stock bars.
Not carbon, carbon wrap
OK, let me have it with your comments,
Mac

Looks nice... does the white stem work like white bar tape and make you go faster??

Real clean look.
The red tape and the red on the cages is a nice touch. Try and fine some white spacers to finish it off.
Looks good!

too much white! Imo it looked better before, but the stem and red tape combo and black accents from the bars, spacers and headset looks nice. Other than that the full white frame is too much.

perfect, but add the black/red team toupe saddle. that would be very nice on that build.

1. It looked better before, the black spacers/white stem thing isn't clean looking at all.
2. Black bar tape looked better, too.
3. Why did $200 handlebars seem like a wise investment when you have that wheelset? Not to mention spending money on a stem and seatpost basically because they're white.

You should get together with that other guy who is asking if he should use white bar tape now that he has a white saddle. He needs someone to hold his hand when he goes to the bike shop to get it. White stems, white bar tape... those are very important decisions. You really need to check with everyone on the internet about that kind of thing.

Man, so many harsh comments. I think it looks fine. Besides, he can always put the old handlebars back on and move the new ones to his next bike.

I'm going to keep them like I do with all my old parts; they always come in handy when fixing up a bike that a friend got at a pawn shop or something like that.
Personally I thought the seatpost looked better than I expected, but the cockpit didn't look quite as good as I'd imagined. The white spacer thing may be a good idea.

Regarding the wheels, I enjoy building my own (two mtb sets and 1.5 fixed gear sets so far) and am collecting parts to build a new set for this bike. The lightweight formula hubs and kinlin rims from the group buy section should give me ~1400gram wheels for just over $200. But I've re-tensioned the wheels on the bike myself and they have been straight and true for several thousand miles now, so they'll do fine until the new set is ready.
Thanks for the comments so far, like and dislikes included. White seems to be a love it or hate it type color on a bike and I have a lot of it on mine, so while I think it looks kind of snazzy, if some don't like it that's fine too.

I think you should have white tape, a white saddle and black stem and seatpost. That way the bike is basically white with a few accents. Right now the black saddle stands out like a sore thumb. I don't get the red tape at all.
Thanks, Mike.
Thanks, Mike.
