What is really better, Trek or Specialized?

Both are decent brands. I think its something personalized, ride both, see which floats your boat. Might be something as personal like what color is more liked. Try all, keep the one that fits you. Think of the fun of riding all those different bikes....

I vote Trek. I've never been a big fan of Specialized for whatever reason. So take my opinion for what it's worth. Over thinking decisions is a problem that most of us have. Best advice I can give you is do your research, ride the bikes, form your own conclusion, and go with your GUT. Worst case situation, you sell it and buy something else. There is NO perfect bike or perfect company. Life is too short to procrastinate.

Trek vs Specialized
In my research Specialized uses house branded cranks and sell you what they call a 105 or Ultegra groupset on the bike. Trek on the overhand tells you its 105 or Ultegra and when you look at the drive train that's what it is. Trek will cost a little more because of this. Two other issues drive me to Trek;
1. Geometry most friendly to a comfortable for me
2. The nearest Specialized dealer for me is at least 1.5hr drive one way under ideal conditions, the nearest Trek dealer is at most a 30 min drive one way in bad conditions.
Ideal conditions only existed in ATL during the shelter in place orders, normal conditions will add at least 30 to the ideal quote above.

Ride both. Buy the one that feels better. Back in '99 I was hot on the Cannondale Lefty. I rode it and the ride was too harsh. Dealer had a Schwinn 4-Banger that was a dream to ride, felt more like a motorcycle, what I was used to. It had a little suspension sag in the rear. Bought the Schwinn.

Here Specialized seems to be somewhat (more) overpriced compared to Trek and therefore a bit more rare and prestigious (believe or not, neither are among the most common brands here) - but that probably has more to do with the local dealer(s) than anything else.
Anyhow, bying a bike going by what's written on the frame is pretty silly these days, me thinks.

Interesting question. I think it comes down to taste. I really like specialized road bikes. I own 2 sworks road bikes. That said, i have 2 trek mtn bikes including a farley. I really like how trek puts 27.5x4+ hoops on their snow/fat bikes. My next bike will most likely be a specialized diverge, but a new trek farley also looks very compelling. Regardless, both companies are top notch and deliver great products and stand behind them.

And this discussion of Domane name, I'd go by what you hear pronounced on YT videos. Also depends if you bike in North America or Europe, might be pronounced differently. Point in these cases is not to look silly, even if one is being correct.

I could be wrong but the newer specialized bikes still use common parts , but the brand new trek bikes at least on the road side use proprietary designs , older treks has normal forks, at least on the road side ,🤔
