C&V events in Europe 2024

It'll be 2024 soon, so time for another edition of the European C&V event calendar.

This first post is reserved for the list of events, and the dates they're planned (or expected, as long as dates have not been finalized).

I'll try to keep this post up-to-date as new events and dates dates become available during the year. Dates in bold have been officially announced. I've used the 2023 calendar as a baseline. Events that haven't shown any signs of life in recent years have been removed.

If you have anything you'd like to add or correct, please chime in, and I'll update the calendar. Please, always assume this list is not up-to-date and check the actual dates before making any commitments. I have added links to the events' websites or social media pages where possible for your convenience.

This is pretty great public service. If I didn't have a toddler and some other international trips on the docket, I would be actively choosing an option....

You're welcome. TBH, there is an element of self-interest here. Ever since mrs non-fixie came along with my first visit to L'Eroica in 2013 (remember that one, @bibliobob ?) she has become an avid participant herself, of L'Eroica and similar events.

Next year's selection will probably be the RetroRonde, Eroica Germania and L'Eroica.

That was a great time, non-fixie ! My brother is living in Malmo, Sweden these days. Think that I'll need to combine a visit with one of these events... Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I was hoping it wasn't, so I left it on the list for now. But yes, I'm afraid you may be right.

Found this video about one of the Anjou Vélo Vintage Sunday rides, the short 30k route. Mrs non-fixie and I did this last year, and the man is right: the biggest challenge isn't the distance, but the number of stops and the wine ... Fun though!

Use the subtitles to translate, well sort of:

I was just on the Eroica website looking for news of Eroica California and Eroica Hispana. However, they are both MIA, suggesting that they will not be happening. This is unfortunate, because I was planning on riding both of those. That said, I noted that the Nova Eroica Switzerland on 15 June has the following language: "The rich program proposed will offer you an incomparable timeless break in pure Eroica style thanks to its Festival, its gastronomic treasures and for some activities for vintage bikes lovers". Not sure if that's enough to warrant adding it to your list since they don't explain what "some activities" means.

I didn't put the Eroica NOVA events on the list, as they seem to be aimed at the modern gravel riders. Let's see what those "some activities" turn out to be. There is a C&V community in Switzerland, but it's relatively easy for them to travel to events in neigboring countries.

The disappearance of Eroica Hispania is a shame. Had it on my "some day" list.

non-fixie I shall add my thanks to the list for your upkeep of this post. Bristol being my home town, I had hoped to see the Gert Lush running but poking about in their insta, I found this: "

The Gert Lush - Cancelled. Fraid we’ve run out of road and so May 9 2022 and all following Gert Lush’s are no more. All entrants are being refunded. Just too many problems post Covid. Thanks to all and see you on the road

Ahh well. Looks like Hispania is toast this year, and I was hoping to go to that one

It's now official that Eroica Hispania is cancelled for 2024 though they are hopeful that it will return in 2025. Anybody interested in riding the UK's Velo Retro with me (same date [June 2] as the usual Eroica Hispania)?

Relatively good news, I guess, wrt Eroica Hispania. No Velo Retro for me, not this year anyway. The RetroRonde is only a couple of weeks later. Highly recommended. fabiofarelli and the non-fixies will be there.

Got a heads-up that this year's Retro Bike Fair Amsterdam will be on March 17th.

Not in Amsterdam, but in Nieuw-Vennep, but what's a few miles among friends. Worth a visit if you're in the area. Pic from last year:

Anyone want to comment on this? I could possibly make my way to Nantes/Angers at about that time. Is it worthwhile because Brittany in April doesn't much appeal to me.

I'm off to Milano. Novegro is next weekend.

I see no evidence that the Salon des Collectioneurs is in April. Would expect November. Have look here.
