Safety and ride ability of crimped but straightened tubes

Previously mushed but then straightened. Just curious with Cuda’s sheer will in straightening tubes.

How safe is steel after straightened up.

Exhibit A.

My very reliable source told me mine was at 95% original strength. He inspected it after I had removed the paint.

I would give it a try. A nice Colnago is hard to pass up . “Just a flesh wound!”

I'd be happier after a bit of work with frame-blocks.
Long columns fail first from buckling, and those are the starts of two.

And I did! One of the best deals I have gotten. Absolutely great guy who sold it to me.

It's perfectly safe until it cracks. Keep an eye on it. When it cracks in four years, it's time to replace both tubes or hang it up.

That was my plan. The PO actually converted this to a fixie about 15 years ago. He guessed he had ridden around 3-5000 miles on it since the powder coat without issue.

At the price he sold to me (he knew it’s value, he was happy to see it go to someone who knows bikes), the frame was basically free.
