Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not fair. Your backdrop is more interesting than my pond. Beautiful picture.

My first road bike.

Edit: Is it just me or are my hoods placed too high up the bar? It's slightly uncomfortable shifting when in the drops. Normal?

Great first bike, have fun with it!

And yes, I do think the hoods are rather high on the bars. Try to line up the flat part of the bar with the flat part of the shifter.

I agree the shifters look a little high. I would try rotating the bar down slightly first before unwrapping them and moving the shifters.

First road bike after many years off any type of bike....glad to be back!!

Looked at several options, found other nice ones that were a little past my budget....in the end, the wallet loved this bike, and I loved it too....this is my allez, there are many like it but this one is mine!!

I have 5 rides on her thus far, and enjoy each one more and more!!

Great forum by the way, it's my first post but have many reads....

I have the same exact one, just picked it up today. I had been looking at a used Giant OCR3, but there was another interested party ahead of me and I'm the type that when I decide to do something I don't want to wait around so rather than waiting for the other guy to decide whether he wanted the Giant or not I just went out and bought a 2008 Specialized Allez Elite. This is my first road bike and I the only rides on it so far are the test rides at the bike shop.

I'm sure you will love it as much as I love mine.....in essence, the part I love the most are the rides, and the bike is just the tool......but a tool I deeply enjoy having!!

For someone with a BFA in Photography, you could have framed that shot a bit better!

cut off two wheels, and blocked part of the shot with that plant frond. Roof of the car is chopped, too.
Also, probably would have chosen a better angle for that shot, too. Always a critic, huh?
I used to work as a photographer back in my 35mm days. What do you shoot with?

Also, I take it you just got the bikes in that shot and haven't adjusted them yet? I notived the differing seat heights, and bar/stem heights and angles. Those bikes look like they were adjusted for two different folks.

just curious.

I'll post this just to piss off Briareos. It's a single-single speed and a commuter....what!? Seems a fine response to "What road bike do you have?"

Only one of the bikes is 'setup'
Also the neighbour may not appreciate our friend leaning his new bikes against the neighbours BMW
