Calling C&V people in Japan...
We always want what we can't easily obtain.
Example, a French sommelier/cyclist recently came and stayed with me. He wanted to do two things; drink wines what would be illegal to grow/make in France (example: in Burgundy, if its a red wine, its pinot noir. to plant a different red grape would be illegal)
And, seek out American (designed) bikes and parts like Specialized, Avocet, Trek, Etc.
So, with an up-coming trip to Eroica, I wonder what would be good/fun trading stock to bring there, if not to sell, maybe trade or even give away.
Please answer what is desirable there.

I was in Tokyo last May and visited both Corsa Corsa, You need an appointment, and Blue Lug. I saw more stuff for sale there then many of us have in our stashes.

I went to one of the Blue Lugs, I didn't see anything vintage. Lots of Surly, a few all-city and Rivendale.

I’m not in Japan but I check vintage bike auctions on Yahoo Japan and Mercari daily. From my observations, vintage French (Simplex, Cyclo, and Huret) and Italian (Campagnolo especially) seems to command a significant premium as compared to what it usually sells for in the USA. If I was headed to Japan, that’s what I’d be bringing with me to sell or trade.

I couldn't determine their fav French. When I think Japanese and French, I think Porter style.

My very limited experience in selling to Japanese collectors is that they especially prize NOS or cosmetically pristine items.
By the way, your shiny stereo tube components with the Scottish name have a very large following in Japan. I have heard the rumor that there are more of those in Japan than remain in the U.S. Older Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles are also highly prized.
