Mystery. Bianchi
Can anyone help with this serial number DS16822.. I can't find it anywhere
Just found the earlier thread, so I'm guessing Japanese 80's. Suggestions on the model would help, cheers

Bianchi or not, I would hesitate to move on a bike like that.
Between the rear brake cable/housing being way too long, the way the rear brake is being held on, and the claw derailleur hanger which it shouldn't need...there's a lot going on.

Definitely Japanese. The telling feature will be 1.375x24 English/ISO BB threading, instead of 36mmx24TPI(!) Italian threading. Seat post diameter will tell you a lot about the frame material. (Larger diameter, such as 27.2mm, is good. Smaller means thicker tubing walls, either non-butted CrMo or just regular high-carbon steel at the low end.

Poor bike. I'm with the "not sure it's a Bianchi" crowd. That Bianchi sticker is a the size normally on the seat tube. If it is a Bianchi it's probally something like a mid '80s Limited. Whatever it is the Suntour dropouts mean it was a nice frame at one time. Unless it fits you and you really like it, I wouldn't put too much money into it.

I am sure someone more knowledgeable than I about Japanese Bianchi serial numbers can help you decode the date of manufacture. Japan-built Bianchis were definitely a 1980s phenomenon.

PS I believe the lack of shifter bosses and bottle mounts makes this pre '84/85 ish and if weren't for the Suntour dropouts I'd say a lowerend model.

In my parts bin I have Suntour VG-T luxe derailleur and the rest of what appears origional for the model SR-Apex etc
The bike was being sold for $100 had been sprayed black and I just wanted the wheels, if I remember the front was a nice carbon. He took $50
for it and I've recently rediscovered it and off I am down another rabbit hole.
Is it junk as has been suggested or do the Suntour GT dropouts and 27mm seat post diameter infer that it could be Ishiwata 022 and maybe deserving
of the Campy I have laying around?
My Eros is Japanese SuperSet 2 and is a sweet ride are they comparable ? The geometery appears very similair.

I do not think that the frame is junk. The dropouts are very nice.
I do not know the tubing for sure but from other frame decals it may be Bianchi Cr-Mo Tubi-Rienforza.
