Yes, you really should update that pic! You've been around long enough to know that posting non-drive pics is a punishable offence!

Just added that 2600 that you were talking to the former owner of in 09 to the database, and I have a question for you or anyone else who reads this thread and might know. I was under the possibly false impression that Sekai bikes used Sekai branded brown suede saddles on the higher numbered bikes, since quite a few sources say this. However what appeared to be the right saddle when I purchased my actual 2500 is a Selle Royal Italia brown suede saddle, I did some searching today and can find instances of other high number factory Sekai models with these saddles, are these the "Sekai" saddles missing their stickers, or are these look alike swapouts?

I think you'll find things changed depending on the years. I seen the 2000 and higher series with both black and brown suede, Sekai branded saddles. I've also seen them spec'd with both Kashimax and Selle Italia saddles. In fact, one of the Sekai branded saddles that I got a close look at was actually a Kashimax.

Hmm well I'm going to assume that due to rub mine is no longer Sekai branded, but is indeed OEM, thanks guys! And T-Mar do you know of any more Sekai models I don't have listed? (Or anyone else for that matter!)

Thanks much again T-mar you sir are invaluable for this, added all those models to the listings, cleaned it up some and have started reediting the c&ped stuff from various articles to streamline/correct..
Edit: Added more specs/models to the list... this will probably go on hold for a little bit it's amazing the amount of BS I sort through for this info

Rock, I don't suppose I could convince you to lay your saddle upside down and take a picture of the stamping on the bottom of it?

Just picked this Sekai ATB up last week. Going from the limited information I've found so far I believe it's from 1983 but can find no model information on the bike anywhere. It's a bit rough but rides really nice still.

Nice score, checked to see if it matches any of the model listings in post #1?

Thanks RaleighSport, and yes I've looked at the MTB's on your 1st post. Sadly there are no model numbers on this bike anywhere and I have yet to find any information on them. Did find information about there BMX bikes that show the tubing used per model if you are interested in that info it's at https://sekaibmx.wordpress.com/

Hoping to find something like that for the ATB / MB models or maybe somone here will know about these.

Looks quite similar to my ('90-91) Mountaineer SL, including the color. Particularly the mini-stay for the rear brake cable routing. By the time of mine there is only one rudimentary lug at the seatpost, not those nice ones though!

Late next week I'll compile the information from mine, in the meantime here's the thread with the story of how I got it, and a few pictures:

I'm going to go over my Mountaineer later today, I seem to recall not being able to find a serial number on it before. I'm pretty sure I checked the bottom bracket and didn't see one there. I'll double-check the BB, any other suggestions?
