Hi.

I'm looking for a pair of SPD shoes comparable to the Shimano SH-CT40. I've been riding with them for over 5 years. It's time to buy a new pair. However, Shimano has long discontinued the model, and none of their current models seem to match the "relaxed" characteristics of the CT40. I bought the Bonstager SSR Multisport. They're not bad, but still much stiffer than the CT40. The most I need in my SPD shoes is the walkability - I'd like to be able to walk in them just like I wear a pair of running shoes. The CT40 gives me that. Any other shoes you can think of?

P.S. I also have wide feet.

I use to wear a pair of Pearl iZumi X-Alp Drift that were similar to those back circa 2012. This is their current version of similar model shoe to what I wore then.

But I've since moved on to a different brand and style. There might be some width differences for the same size between your Shimano and this Pear iZumi. So check the sizing guide.

Hmm, sizing guide doesn't give any idea of width. So ask around if they fit the same. Seems like Shimano has shoes available by width too. I don't think PI does widths. Or maybe not in many models.

In the end, I bought Shimano EX3 (SH-EX300) shoes. They're pretty good. I've put on about 200 miles on them so far and can see myself using them reguarly. They're not as accommodating to wide feet as the CT40 was, but buying a larger size (EU 44 vs EU 43) solved that problem.
