Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

After some discussion, where I was rather in the hot seat, my boss turned to HER and said, "Okay, Veronica, why don't you take the responsibility for designing protocols for avoiding this in the future?"

Her eyes got real big, and her face got a little pale, and she visibly shrank back in her chair. She quietly said, "Uh... I think Doug is probably better suited to do that."

She wanted to make me look bad in front of as large an audience as possible, but she didn't want any responsibility for fixing the problem.
This same coworker had, earlier this year, spent 40 minutes of an hour meeting arguing that she had to change the design to reuse the existing code... then immediately we went to defining my next work and she immediately volunteered me to refactor some big icky code instead of reusing it. I immediately shut that down, of course.

Good Job on the KOM. Find some more for you to take next time.

I'll tell the wife to consult with you prior to planning.

I'll be interested to hear if Cole expresses any saltiness. 😆 He said that it looked like we were segment-hunting, and I was like, "don't blame Bret - he wasn't even with me at this point," mostly to let him know that I took it solo.

He never answered my text so I imagine he is pissed at me too. I didnt think about it but our route did kind of look like we were hunting for segments. Oh well.

Today's meager ride. My backside was not happy today after yesterday's ride so I only did 11 miles.

No indeed. However, a 10 min nap in my office chair this afternoon, followed by a sandwich and 16 oz of bad coffee, put things substantially to rights.

Holy moly. This was a few months ago, so maybe already posted but I don't recall seeing it here.

Tour de Bretagne massive crash. NSFW, has one of the 7 dirty words uttered at one point.

Oh, where's Trsnrtr located?

We changed our travel plans (we normally stop in Chicago to visit an uncle, but he passed recently, so we'd rather avoid the scrum of traffic through the city) and will be stopping in Peoria. The wife has been wanting to check out Galena, so we figure we'll swing through there in the morning, on the last leg home.
