Yeah, I used to carry a patch kit and used it often, but I find they're hit or miss with today's tubes or my waning skills or something. I tried to patch the tube that flatted this a.m., and it didn't take. The second tube had a giant tear very near the valve, so was not a candidate for the procedure.
If I remember correctly, I never had great results with glue-less patches.

Today's was a pinch flat. I hit a very small object with my front wheel.

I hear you - when you read the book first, the director's vision rarely meets or exceeds our own imaginations. It's a shame.
Speaking of Barbie, the wife and I did see it while in VA, on our sole date night. Since I'm turning in toan elderly a sensible person, I've begun keeping a sweater in the car in the summer, for stores, restaurants, etc that are a little too enthusiastic with the air conditioning. I brought my sweater in to the theater and, upon getting to our row, I pulled it on over my head. As I did, I noticed the coquettish smile from the woman a couple of seats down from me - she, and her five friends, were all dressed in pink. My sweater? Yeah, it happened to be my pink hoodie, so she was all about it.

definite correlation between exercise and disease progression, but i'm "gene elusive" for this condition which leads to some pretty large grey areas, not the least of which is "how hard is hard enough to break stuff." given a decade of stability, lots of meds, and a couple years of steady and completely trouble-free riding in the 100-110bpm, 200w average range, my docs and i felt that i was under the radar. either we were wrong, or this is just natural progression, or it's triggered by something unrelated (definitely exposed to covid again last week) but the result is the same. getting shocked sucks big time and the constant fear of it at every little flutter of the heart totally ruins the experience, aside from the actual physical risk of crashing at an inopportune time.

Maybe they don't carry an assortment of tube sizes so as to be able to provide tubes to anyone who needs them.

well, it looks like it may be over for me as far as cycling goes. took it easy for two weeks, a few short rides. definitely feeling little flutters of arrhythmia. this morning felt pretty good, recovered from cold, did 20 miles and had another major run of ventricular tachycardia. no shock this time, got paced out of it. doesn’t seem to correlate to pushing hard or not - i kept todays ride to an average of 165w, 100bpm or so.
i feel fine (other than being very down about the whole thing) but it’s obviously not safe or wise to be out there on the bike.

My wife woke up feeling pretty ******, so we ended up beating a hasty retreat, anyway. I was really looking forward to checking out Zion, but we were on the road before they opened.
On the subject of coffee, between being away and waiting on beans, it'd been a few weeks since I'd enjoyed a really great cup. My beans finally came in, a little after lunch time today, and the first latte was sweet relief.

I tried the glueless patches and didn't like them. Had one come off on a descent when the tire got hot. Had another come off in the car on a hot day.

The "old guy" of our Wednesday Usual Suspects ride is 78 and starting to show his age on hills and is getting gapped. We wait for him. I am hopeful that I might be able to ride at his current level in 20 years when I turn 78.
He is a good candidate for an e-bike but such a purist I highly doubt he would ever go down that road.

Friends have suggested an e-bike for me but I don't know if I want to do that. I could never keep up on climbs anyway and I've had some good rides solo recently.

Got 'em all.
World + Quordle Daily + Quordle Sequence + Octordle Daily + Octordle Sequence + Octordle Rescue
Did a pretty good shot on WorLdle too - got the country right off, had to cheat for half the neighbors, got the flag and currency, missed on population.
