For sure. I would like to come ride a lot of the same stuff in a non-race situation. Maybe not Doublepeak.

haha yeah...questhaven is fun and has one stiff stretch but double peak up to the park at the top is absolutely brutal.

Sunday I did 16 miles in Arcadia climbing those nasty 15% roads that go straight up to the Angeles Crest. On Monday knocked out another 16 miles riding with a buddy after I tuned his rim brake road bike. Wednesday did 33 miles, 5 rose bowl laps and ended the ride climbing up Mt. Washington. Thursday did 18 miles over at Griffith Park. All 4 riding days had perfect sunny weather!

From today:

Saturday...18mi on the gravel bike, starting with the climb up Chaney Trail descending to the Meadows, pavement to Cherry Canyon for a climb and some fun singletrack. I did a couple of short and easy rides this week, trying to recover from BWR. I hit Chaney with a threshold effort, and posted a PR. Added another PR on the Cherry climb. My legs felt really good all day.

Sunday - My regular Coffee Ride (40mi). Easy tempo pace out to Duarte, sitting on the front with a good friend for a good chunk of it. On the return, I hit the Winson climb hard, kept on the power over the top, and opened a pretty big gap. I settled into a hard tempo through Monrovia and Arcadia, stayed clear of the group, and finished in Sierra Madre about a minute ahead of the next guy. The fitness boost from last week's BWR is no joke. I felt really good.

I'm not aware of any roads in Arcadia that connect to Angeles Crest Hwy.

I'm somewhat new to San Diego and haven't heard of this ride (couldn't find it on the interwebs either). Can you tell me a bit about it? Route?

should be good. back improved last two days. yeah, will ride the pinarello treviso. dying to ride the 1988 nishiki olympic but
it needs a new wheel set. haven't been riding enuff to justify it with three other perfectly good roadie steeds and too lazy (for now)
to swap out cassettes to ride with an existing wheelset from one of the other bikes.

i think it's closer to 35+ miles with a < 1 mile distance on the ferry from coronado to dtown sd. measured 35.15 miles on the march edition
of the ride which included approx a .5 mile of detour down in the chula vista marina area and that area is likely still running the same construction detour. came in third on the coronado 'sprint' tho so that may have traumatized the garmin...

this is the route and it is pancake flat. there are four passes over three (power over them in whatever gear) bridges and a comparable mini-hill
by the chula vista salt works. you will be out of your saddle, if necessary, to somehow manage those insurmountable heights for a grand total of
90 seconds-tops.

Rode down to Long Beach for mother's day. Rented a boat for 2 hours for mother in law with charcuterie and wine to enjoy.

Morning graveling on new-to-me dirt in the Newport Coast area (17mi, 2000’). Up Buck Gully from PCH, across Bommer Ridge, and down Laguna Bowl Trail to Laguna Canyon. Unfortunately, that last part was unplanned. I missed the turn to Willow Canyon that would have taken me close to El Toro Rd, leading to a climb up West Ridge to Top of the World and then descending to PCH. The descent of Laguna Bowl has some seriously STEEP sections that challenged the limits of by bike handling abilities, but not in a fun way.

Buck Gully

Nice meetup with the SD peeps and getting to do some riding with diphthong
Also nice to see these coastal areas where I have not biked in several years.
