Hello Jacek,

as discussed, attaching photos. The paint is, as you can see, not original so the frame for sure will be going for repaint. The paint (or is it plastification) is quite thick but I have managed to get a shot at BB to discern numbers and letters. The bottom bracket reads: L0WW D3848.

So this seems to fit into "WW - Strada: ~ D --- ?" criteria, awaiting your expert opinion.

Regards,
Nenad

Hello all and Jacek, hope you all in great state!

Wanna ask about my friend's merckx he just bought, its mx leader with F3674 on the right side of BB and probably a letter M on the left. Paintjob is green. Is it produced in 95?

thanks in advance!

EMC has built bicycle frames with BSC - rarely. I only found one "series" in the ~D2500 area.

Hello, I can't believe I am now part of the Merckx ownership family. This is my new bike and I haven't seen this paint scheme anywhere and have no idea of the frames age or model name. I got this from a friend who bought the frame/fork from a mobile bike shop guy in Wisconsin. After you would pick out the frame you want, you would pick out the parts you wanted on it and he would build it for you. His name was Buzz. I tried to read thru some of the stuff but just got more confused, can anyone help me with what I have? It has Campy dropouts if that matters

Just took it out of my truck.....

This is a 1982 Professional, Columbus SL tubes.
The frame appears to have been painted out of EMC.
The C designation is a mistake (should be G), 1 is the frame size (51 c-c).

The frame measures 53cm c-c which is why I didn't understand the coding....
What does the C mean and why should it be a G? Either way, I can't wait to ride it!

If the guy confused C and G he could also have confused 1 and 3 (although this is much more difficult)
The C stood first for the Columbus tubes in the noCorsa model, and then simply for the Corsa model - it didn't appear until 1984, while it happens by mistake in the E46xx-47xx region.

ah thank you! Quite odd to find english thread in merckx frame.

I also have other frame that I wanna know the identity, the owner said its Corsa with Z 1495 and probably L on the left side. Is it corsa? Columbus SL?

Thanks for the prompt feedback Jacek.

Sorry no closeup photo on the drop out, but the dropout is Brev Campagnolo.

Need help with an older Merckx frame!

Again, I come for help figuring out the numbers on a Merckx frame, and I think this one is fairly old, from the looks of it:
On the left is just the number 2
On the right is E 9534
Any help with this frame would be greatly appreciated!!

A O R. E4225 60cm Professional Reynolds 531

I’m assuming that this is a repaint ( were there custom painted frames back in the 80s??).

Reynolds tubing stacks up with BB R stamp but 4225 doesn’t work size wise as a 60c-c. I take it that these serial numbers are not fooplroof??

What definitive year would this be from?

Great thread, thanks for the ground work to get this up and published!

Thanks CyclesMakaron that’s the info I needed. Didn’t even think that the O was in fact a 0 denoting the 60cm frame size.
Great work, much appreciated.

My only other query with regards to this frame is when we’re the sloping forks released for the Professional? With 1982 as a build year would these forks have been to early for the frame? The decals would need to be changed to reflect its age also I’m assuming. Thanks.

Slope fork crown - OK for 1982
Can you check the card / markings on the fork steering tube ?
The best sets of stickers for early EMC are sold by Cyclomondo - coincidentally from Australia
