3x30 Z3. Officially allowed out of the hotbox now - I can use a fan! So I did, on low. Thank goodness for it, RPE for the last interval was approximately a billion. Mixing in more threshold work this block, too. It's funny reading about you guys doing VO2 and stuff, cause I am on a slooooowwww burn for this season. Probably going to get my shirt pulled over my head in March and April, but hopefully I'll be laughing when I still have gas in the tank for Baby Masters Nats in January.

Shrug. I did track racing on basically lifting and z2, with a few unstructured rides but nothing longer than like three minutes over threshold in months, and could still find my way off the front. It didn't feel real pleasant, but I could go when I thought I had to.

You might go better than you expect.

There's a lot to be said to simply being able to suffer. There's a big mental game in being able to hold threshold or higher.

Rested for two days plus a bit of commuting. 7 pm, almost bedtime! Stage 1 of Chico is tomorrow at 9 am, 3 hours away. Damn stage racing is expensive.
Gas: $30
Hotel: $200
Car rental for wife: $65
Entry:$125
Missed workday minus taxes: $200
Total: $620

After weeks of terrible weather, there should be a break in the clouds, wind, snow and rain.

Going Strava segment hunting down in NC this weekend. Specifically, Dupont State Forest.

I'm captain tryhard in races. To me it pays to push myself as hard as I can. I joined the team I did with the hopes of just being able to ride aggressively and have teammates who can use it to their advantage.

4x Criss Cross Threshold Intervals last night. Today, rode into work easy, in the snow which was actually invigorating. I'll ride home then this weekend trying to get in some good miles.

Haha, thanks, I'm not really worried about it. That's the benefit of a long season. If I end up being pretty good early on, great. If not, there's a long way to go. @canuckbelle, good luck at your races this weekend.

anyone have experience with knee pain after a crash? a couple days ago, i fell and landed on my knees. haven't ridden since then and am still feeling a little soreness (not really pain but rather soreness/weakness) above the kneecap. i can feel it when sitting down or getting up from a seated position and when I'm using the stairs. otherwise, walking and standing i feel fine. just wondering if an easy spin will help or if i should stay off the bike. Last couple days, I've been trying to stay off my feet, icing, and stretching.

Yup. Spin easy and see how it feels. You'll know pretty quickly if something is off, in which case you spin home even easier and go back to R&R. If it was bad enough to take a few days off, I wouldn't push harder than easy your first day back on.

+1 to spinning fast and easy to feel it out. Coming back from a knee injury I found that super high cadence, low resistance riding was highly beneficial. You want to get a lot of movement into the joint while avoiding putting torque on it.

I crashed while mtn biking yesterday. Actually more of a slow speed fall into some cactus and rocks. It was the type of cactus that when you stand up, all of the cactus is stuck to you. Took me about 5 minutes to get most of it off my leg and hip. Today I'm still finding little needles in my skin

Cactus is the reason I switched from mountain biking to road. The big thorns were easy to get out, though I was surprised one was able to stab deeply into my foot through my shoe. The small ones were the problem. At the time, I didn't shave my legs, I was pulling small thorns out for about two weeks.

Oh, and Rattlesnakes. I had no interest in potentially crashing and finding myself face to face with a rattlesnake.

a little limited on time this morning so hit the rollers early. 2.5 hours with 5*10'. first time doing five of these in one set this season, was definitely suffering on the last one.

35min @ 120% feels bad. Doing it structured style feels even worse.
