I think i'm going to take a long break from posting here if this is how some reply to a fun sharing of information, over and over, and over again. Calling me ignorant with or without saying those specific words = i'm done. I graduated high school too long ago to deal with this nonsense.

I got similar wisdom when wondering how some people descent so fast(I'm a wimp with poor bike handling skills). "Son, flying at 25 and at 35 ain't much of a difference. You're gonna hurt either way, so you might as well have fun and be foolish. YOLO, and all that." Yes, I got told "YOLO" by a dude old enough to be my grandpa.

Welcome to the world of internet forums...You need to grow some thicker skin and put up with disagreements...Bikeforums is very very mild compared to some other forums which have no filters and all kinds of nasty words get thrown around and where moderation is almost non-existent.

29 mph and some change according to my bike computer, which I think is fairly accurate. I could have gone faster but I wasn't sure how my bike would handle.

So, what does any of this have to do with commuting? You used to be a mod in another forum and decided it would be appropriate to post off topic in any old forum?

I hit the low 40s (mph) on my way home every work day. No special skills are required -- just a modest hill and a bike that rides reasonably true.

incazzare.
Having been a moderator on an extremely popular forum & a live chat room, i can say "I know". Some folks see the internet as the dumping ground for their own issues. I simply want no part in that, as i have enough stress and things to deal with day to day. has nothing to do with skin depth, simply have no patience or energy for nonsense after being nearly run off the road, honked at, yelled at, etc all day.

Should I recuse my earlier posts since that max speed wasn't on a commute, then? God, it's too serious in this forum anymore.

Nope, but as I've said dozens of times, I do not work in an office, I do not have an A to B commute. I'm self employed, and I use my bike to get between places where I do things for clients and/or carry items for clients. I'm on the road in traffic all day.
