In the spirit of the Bikes on Bridges thread, lets see your bikes next to big bodies of water.

Beach Bum. If you squint your eyes you can see the SF skyline on the horizons horizon.

okay... back to the Mississippi just north of St. Louis...
First, the National Great Rivers Museum at the Melvin Price lock and dam. This is a bit north of the Chain of Rocks bridge, and south of Alton, Illinois. Locks and dams are what makes shipping stuff on rivers possible. Changes in elevation are accomplished in the lock and not by traversing rocky sections or small falls.
a quick review of the Chain of Rocks bridge, as seen from the Illinois side of the river:
and now the lock and dam and the associated museum...
here we see a barge approaching the lock and dam from the south.
Further up the river we see Alton and the cable stay bridge that is Highway 67. The bridge has a great bike path, although the Missouri side of the bridge had a terrible shoulder full of debris when I was there last. I think I got about 5 punctures in a few hundred yards, and used all of my tubes and patches.
There is a wonderful path that goes north out of Alton and up to Pere Marquette park, following the river. There are some scenic bluffs on this stretch, and you're bound to see a few barges too. The trail does use a shoulder on highway 100 for some of this stretch.

I would wager this is the preferred scenario, as opposed to its sibling, Bikes in Bays
More seriously, here's an 'old' photo of my former Miyata 1000 on the Hook, overlooking the Strait and Victoria Island (far background). A great day.

Honestly, I welcome pics with any big body of water - briny or fresh. I just thought"Bikes 'n Bays" sounded like a snappy thread title

Several on Puget Sound:
Lincoln Park close to home in West Seattle with Fauntleroy ferry in the background, first ride with 650B’s on the Marinoni.
West side of Bainbridge Island. After taking this photo, we helped the woman in the background who was struggling to get out of that boat.
Farther north at my favorite photo rock on beautiful Chuckanut Drive with a few of the San Juan Islands in the background.

Lake Mendota (if you look real close, you can see TV Lenny riding an e-bike off the dock into the lake, on the opposite shore....)
Bernie's Beach, Monona Bay, just down the street from Cronometro (the shop that hosts the club that puts on our swap):
Tenney Park Lock & Dam, Lake Mendota, during the flood of 2018:

Not enough East Coast--- nor frozen "bays!"
My "approaching vintage" 2003 Cannondale next to a frozen NH lake.
1971 custom Dr. Deltron painted Schwinn Super Sport overlooking NH lake from surrounding hills.
1983 Schwinn Paramount near an angry Nantucket Sound from Cape Cod beach
