How does this beet-derived nitric oxide compare to that which you get naturally - and for FREE! - by breathing in through your nose?

No comparison at all. Nitric oxide, NO is not found in our atmosphere. That N2 stuff you breath is just the most common molecule on the planet and priced accordingly.

I’ve seen this posted so many times but my brain reads it as Powdered Root Beer! Must be those years of making home made.

However the literature stresses that nitric oxide is also created in the endothelium of our blood vessels which is why inorganic nitrate reduces blood pressure and improves performance simply by increasing blood supply to our muscles. Our muscles also store nitrates for future use.

Skepticism is always healthy. Finding double blind studies, the gold standard in my opinion, will take more time than I am willing to invest. There are many studies on the positive effects of nitrate on athletes and coronary patients to sift through.

If you are skeptical then so be it. That’s fine. I have no dog in this fight. All I know is that I have found positive results which probably means I am not a highly trained athlete or am enjoying the placebo effect.

TLDR: eat the whole beet.

No worries, man. I know how printed media doesn't always make it plain that something is a genuine question. I found the info quite interesting, frankly. I'm going to look more into it.

I’ve been seeing these posts for quite a while now and didn’t want to interrupt but now that it’s kind of fading out. I want to say that every time I see that headline I read it:
who drinks powdered root beer.
Anyone?

I know a bit about this topic. I take Spin Boost by Nutrigardens, I buy from their website but I believe they are on Amazon as well. I found that they're the only powder with beetroot and red spinach that is food based and they state 400mg nitrates per serving. No one else discloses how many nitrates per serving. It's faster and less messy than juicing beets and it takes good. Also, you should brush your teeth after drinking it or not use fluoride toothpaste all together as fluoride kills the bacteria that turns nitrates to NO same with anti-acids.

Since you are obviously literate, try reading this: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition...OC_TITLE_HDR_6
Here is the Readers Digest version quote from the Healthline link above, “can support the health of your brain, heart, and digestive system, be a great addition to a balanced diet, boost athletic performance, help alleviate inflammation, and possibly slow the growth of cancer cells.”

After 3 months, resting pulse has dropped from an average of 70 BPM to 60. BP has also gone from 137/75 to 109/68. May be something to it.

Yes! I mix mine into my morning smoothie too. Can drink it straight, but in a smoothie with fruit and spinach and protein, its pretty darned good.

I’ve started putting it in my oatmeal each morning. My wife says it’s effect will be positive. I’m in. It has changed the color from the turmeric/ginger yellow to rose. What does Dr. Gregor of Nutritionfacts.org say?

I take beet root (powdered) along with turmeric and Braggs ACV daily. Good blood pressure always, heart rate good, ride endurance reasonably good and quick recovery, less soreness in days following multiple rides, better sleep, digestion, less arthritis issues and inflammation, overall better feeling.
Is it the beets? The Turmeric? The ACV? Just the riding? Combination of some or all? Or all in my head?
Who cares, I'm good with it and it isn't going to hurt me. I don't tend to overanalyze some things that seem to be working.

Nothing to add of any substantative value.
But I do like and drink organic Beet root juice (not tried powder).
Love Beets
Love ACV (Bragg) , been using it for 28 yrs ??? +- , couple of tablespoons in a big glass of water, before lunch. otherwise it's a good way to flavor some water (95% of what I drink, by volume is plain water, sometimes flavored with either a wee bit ACV, or cranberry juice, or prune juice, or beet root juice or squeezed lemon juice - I like a little snap in the water sometimes).
also makes great sauerkraut (being a German means it's required...), that and Liquid Aminos used when pan 'frying' (tiny drop of Olive Oil) up some onions, mushrooms and dried tomatoes - really tasty on top of many things, yum...
none of this is on some 'program' for me, but you gotta eat and drink something. Maybe it helps, I think so. Enjoyable, though...
Ride On

I'm converting; about half a can of actual beets in the protein shake instead of the hyper processed powder.
