It sounds like it was a joke.

However, this TrueBikes 36 appears to be real.

And, of course, Coker has been making 36" bikes for quite some time.

I could imagine large wheels for big & tall people. But, for the rest of us... it just sounds a bit unwieldy.

That was a nice joke from Focus indeed. Except that for us tall, it's not a joke and DirtySixerBikes have been making big 36er bikes for the tallest riders, Shaq for example. If you know a serious tall rider, tell him to go to DirtySixer.

There is also a 32" wheelset that might be worth experimenting with.

Yeah, I don't quite get what the joke is about, as 36ers having been rolling for several years, apparently to the delight of many. I almost bought a Choice Collective cruiser a couple of years ago, but would much prefer to have something sportier like the Focus, which looks sweet!

This is what I'm doing, 36er for tall riders, it puts everything in -good- proportions.

??? It's not a suspension fork. Or did you mean contact by some other means? There's certainly not much clearance there, but I don't see how it could contact.

Their fork will flex with the torque that the disc brake will apply when someone taller, heavier than their test rider will make a heavy/high speed braking move. Everything flex, specifically a rigid fork under heavy load.

Perhaps, though that fat-legged dual crown fork should resist flexing pretty well.

A local guy rides what appears to be a 36" bike on a custom frame -- it might be "only" 32" or so, judging from his height relative to the bike. I've only seen it at night and haven't measured, but it's huge. And good looking. When rolling it sounds like the Koenigstiger of bikes.

Now that you mention it, that tire is very close to the downtube.
