It sounds like it was a joke.
https://www.facebook.com/Focus.Bikes...30449767021132

However, this TrueBikes 36 appears to be real.
Truebikes
36er Truebikes | YikeBike America

And, of course, Coker has been making 36" bikes for quite some time.
Coker Cycle Company | The Worlds First 36 Inch Unicycle

I could imagine large wheels for big & tall people. But, for the rest of us... it just sounds a bit unwieldy.

That was a nice joke from Focus indeed. Except that for us tall, it's not a joke and DirtySixerBikes have been making big 36er bikes for the tallest riders, Shaq for example. If you know a serious tall rider, tell him to go to DirtySixer.

Somebody probably decided to build up a fun 36" demo bike. Then shot the video as an afterthought.

Yeah, probably a great low production niche for a small company. 36" may still be a bit on the large side.

There is also a 32" wheelset that might be worth experimenting with.

Yeah, I don't quite get what the joke is about, as 36ers having been rolling for several years, apparently to the delight of many. I almost bought a Choice Collective cruiser a couple of years ago, but would much prefer to have something sportier like the Focus, which looks sweet!

ChoiceCollective do have a 36er pennyfarthing, but really, 36" is too small for an adult "penny."

That thing from Focus does not look fun at all. Toe overlap is one thing, but the front wheel must drag on the downtube when braking really hard. Even for a short rider, they got the geometry wrong. They should have look at what WaltWorks does, his 36er are much better for shorter riders.

This is what I'm doing, 36er for tall riders, it puts everything in -good- proportions.

??? It's not a suspension fork. Or did you mean contact by some other means? There's certainly not much clearance there, but I don't see how it could contact.

Their fork will flex with the torque that the disc brake will apply when someone taller, heavier than their test rider will make a heavy/high speed braking move. Everything flex, specifically a rigid fork under heavy load.

Perhaps, though that fat-legged dual crown fork should resist flexing pretty well.

A local guy rides what appears to be a 36" bike on a custom frame -- it might be "only" 32" or so, judging from his height relative to the bike. I've only seen it at night and haven't measured, but it's huge. And good looking. When rolling it sounds like the Koenigstiger of bikes.

The triple clamp (dual crown on that rigid fork will help for sure, but the tire seems to be already too close to the downtube IMO....

I know of a 6'11" or more in Texas riding a BlackSheep 36er...

Now that you mention it, that tire is very close to the downtube.

Hey, that fellow's bike sure does look like a Black Sheep frame. But he's not 6'11". Must be a few of those Koenigsfarrads around.
