Too many insults and people wanting to argue now. Bike Forums rules say treat others with respect. If you disagree, post replies with respect and courtesy. But insults aren’t allowed. Infractions and closing the thread come next unless this ceases.

I have a Busch & Mueller Eyro that has a cutoff beam, it's 30 lux and a once a week charge for my daily one hour round trip commute.

Is that enough light output for you? I certainly like the price. For more power, I like the looks of this one.

I mount my lights to my rack and when I was looking at battery lights I couldn't find a converter from handlebar to traditional. Now I run a dynamo and an IQ-XS and will shift the battery stuff to my "bar bike" since I don't use it all that much. I will admit though there were some times last winter where I wanted a flood so I do have one of those Amazon cree bike lights that have both a helmet mount and can mount to the bars, I keep it in my handlebar bag during the winter.

I forgot to mention the B&M Ixon Core which might still be available. It's a bit on the expensive side but it's worth it. It has the famous B&M shaped beam. I think it's rated at 50 Lux. It's impossible to convert between Lux and Lumens, but I'm guessing it's somewhere around 200 or 300 Lumens. Because of the beam shape, it's more useful than some lights with more output. Battery life is outstanding, and so is the overall construction quality. The on/off button gives an indication of battery life, in five levels. The light has two output modes: low and high. I think low is 15 Lux. Both modes are steady (not flashing) because some countries forbid flashing. I think the law is dumb, but whatever, and I live with it. I got the light on xxcycle.com, a French web site. That site seems to have every B&M available, all at good prices.

I've been happy using lights with adjustable beams that use a rechargeable 18650 battery. Bear in mind that not all 18650 batteries are created equally. I invested in Nitecore NL 189 3400mAh batteries - $25 apiece when I got them - which as far as I know is the highest true capacity 18650 battery available and a 4 slot charger. There are batteries that have larger capacities printed on them but I'm pretty sure they're fake with a far lower actual capacity. Those Nitecore batteries last.

I use a pair of lights. I used to use a pair of a particular model of Zefal lights that I got at Walmart (go ahead laugh) which are great because they have a notched swivel mount and an adjustable beam so you can aim them to combine the two beams into one patch on the road - two on high put out quite a bit of light. They also have a great quick-release. Unfortunately Walmart stopped carrying them. Had I known I wouldn't be able to get them any longer I would have bought a bunch. I haven't found another light exactly like them with the adjustable swivel mount and quick release. One that's similar is the Cree Q5 - they have an adjustable beam like the Zefal but the mount is fixed straight ahead. The Cree is designed to use either 3 AAA's or one 18650.
