Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I’m waiting in line outside PennDOT to get a new photo license. Dad with his son in front of me. Dad keeps hocking loogies and the son smells like cheap body spray. Only 50 more minutes of this until the office opens.

Welcome to my Saturday morning.

Your weekends are mostly enviable. This weekend can only go up from here, I imagine.

Welcome to my Saturday morning.
I was renewing online recently and had to submit a photo taken within the last month or so. I had my wife take a very nice groomed picture and uploaded it. A few weeks later, my license comes back with an old pic that was taken when I had a beard and was totally homeless looking. The pic they used was from 2019.

WTH

We can renew on line, which I did, but they send you a photo card and make you go to one of their places to have your photo taken and get the actual license. I ended up being taken first. There are probably 20+ people waiting in line outside the building. Pays to be the early bird. Next up in Rx kitty food then home for a little ride.

Going to another club ride today. Maybe I'll become a regular again. It's my 33rd year with the club.

Rained overnight and was very foggy/misty this morning so my commute and ride was pretty soggy.

Still beats driving.

Also, this never gets old:

I'm very happy with my new commuting backpack as well. Very stable on my back and had just enough room for everything

My wife and I have ridden with our club <40 years and were informed this week that we have been disinvited to some club rides for being too strong/fast. WTF? We are both over 70.

We have been ride leaders many years and we have never told anybody that they weren’t welcome to a club ride.

Also, I just payed our dues a couple weeks ago. Guess that we wasted our money.

You young whippersnappers shouldn't be riding with the octogenarians. Pick on the millenials.

Seriously. We’ve had this problem for several seasons, now. We can’t ride with the faster groups anymore and the slower groups don’t want us.

If you ever think you're too fat for cycling, don't try running in CO.

My wife says that I used “payed” in the wrong context. I should have written “paid.”

I tried walking. Would do that again.

Running would imply a certain type of mental illness.
