Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wife is finally coming around to moving back to Charlotte. Something to look forward too.
She seems pretty excited about Lake Wylie, I told her Spartanburg would work too. Basically anywhere with in 90 mins would be perfect.

That's me, a gentleman.

Seriously, I don't want to ride with people that feel intimidated just because my wife and I show up. I just think it's funny that we are both over 70 and I'm 50# overweight at least and have health issues.

My CoMotion tandem came with a catcher from the shop that set it up. A couple years later, I was having some work done by a different shop and noticed it was gone when I picked up the tandem. I asked the mechanic and he said it was an insult to a properly set up machine and the mechanic. He wouldn't give it back to me but said that if I had a problem with a dropped chain, he'd re-install it for free and adjust the drivetrain. That was 2018. Haven't dropped a chain yet.

Cant remember ever dropping one.

But, now that I’ve said that, the two of us will be talking about dropped chains next week. 😂

Also, I just payed our dues a couple weeks ago. Guess that we wasted our money.

I would hate to live in the HOA with the person who made this decision.

Yep. I had one, and was stupid and made a shift with the frt and rear at the same time. Dropped it, and fought it like Bam. Took it off, made sure all is adjusted properly and stopped being silly.

Today is happened.

The front derailer needs an adjustment once a month. If I had any complaint about my Sram that would be it.

Can’t say I’ve ever had an issue double shifting.

I'm sure I’ll be starting a thread about that next week as well.

It's a gorgeous day, so of course I rode on Zwift. Silly me, I'd signed up for the Tour Of Watopia, and today was the last day to ride Stage 3, which involved Alpe du Zwift on the Standard and Long rides, so since I was giving up my Sunday ride, I chose the Longer. "Tour of Fire and Ice". 10 mostly forgettable miles before AdZ. I got on the bike later than I wanted, with only 8 minutes before the start, so I didn't have time for a proper spindown. I kept hearing a squeak from the wheel/drum, so finally on the first segment, I stopped and tightened the clamp and did a proper spindown. I ended up completing AdZ only 31 seconds slower than my other ride up it, which means I was actually on pace to beat that time by 29 seconds before taking a whole minute out to do the spindown. Oh, well.

Once again, it was easier than I feared, but not so much easier that I feel like I could have gone all that much faster.

I think it’s the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL 2 HV. I had an earlier version, but I messed it up. This one has a higher front door for more headroom. The smaller door is what I hated about the last one. Hard to get out of for someone who is 6’2”.

Last time I dropped a chain, it was user error.
