Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is why I would be really leery of those cars where the engine shuts off when you are sitting at a light, then starts up again when you're ready to go. When I grew up, if a car's engine stopped at a light, we called it 'stalling' and it was A BAD THING!!!!

I still occasionally look over at a car at the light to see who stalled. Maybe by the end of this year I'll finally stop that.

It is. The playoffs (post Wild Card Weekend) were better than the Super Bowl. Watch KC-Buffalo.

The night before I often think of the word I am going to start with the next day. I settled on a word but then changed my mind this morning. Had I gone with what I had originally chosen I would have likely gotten a 3. A friend and I usually text back and forth our starting words ideas. She went with what I had originally chosen and got 3.

I have 3 starting words that I rotate based on how many letters I get off of the bar the day before. Since yesterday was 4/5- I wasn’t going to use that word again today

But, maybe that's the one you want to use today.

So my mechanic looked at the Saturn and said it was a bad battery. He said they put it on the tester and it failed.

I won't argue, but when it was not starting yesterday it was cranking like normal for 15-20 seconds at a time, it just would not catch. That does not sound like a bad battery to me.

Oh well, the battery was pretty old anyway so I will keep my fingers crossed the problem does not recur.

Google tells me that the average lifespan for a car battery is 3-5 years. Really?

The Saturn's first battery lasted 15 years, and apparently the second one lasted 9.

Three sounds too short but maybe I am

An unbelievable game. Epic.

St Peters v. Purdue was another epic game. The year is starting out right, epic events don't just grow on trees.

There's a reason seasonal roads don't open until mid-April around here.
