Hello
Just wanted to drop in and say hello. My wife and I have been riding about 5 years now and like all we do it has become our obsession. We joke we don't have hobbies, we have obsessions.
We both used to ride extensively in the St Loius, MO area when we were younger. In the 90's we moved to Wisconsin because of another obsession and rode less. Life brought us kicking and screaming to South Dakota in 2006 and we became sedentary. Decided to get ourselves a couple WalMart bikes to see if we would/could ride again without investing too much. We got in much better shape (saved my wife's life we are sure) and now we own mountain bikes and fatties. Last year we rode over 1300 miles.
Well, neither of us could imagine living in South Dakota if the other died (not that we expect that to happen anytime soon, but we all die eventually...) and God dropped this dream home in our lap in central Missouri and made it possible. We are still moving and still own our South Dakota place as well, but life is so good right now! We live right on the Katy Trail outside Boonville, MO on 10 acres in a 1940 all brick farm house. Wife found herself a 1995(?) pink(!) Bianchi Eros road bike and if she can ride a road bike again we will be getting us a pair of project bikes so she can learn to do her own wrenching. Like I said, obsessions.
Looking forward to reading more here on this forum! We have a lot to learn!!

Maybe we rode together in your St. Louis area days. I live over in Belleville IL and use to do a lot of AYH and Touring Cyclist rides.
Love the Katy Trail. I've done it end-to-end the last 8 years and plan on doing it again next year. Boonville is a very nice town.

Yes, I rode a lot of Touring Cyclist rides. Does anyone put rides on like that anymore? I remember apple picking, pumpkin patches, wine country, rambling rides in the rolling heat of southern MO. Even rides over in your neck of the woods!
If you (or anyone else) is riding through Pilot Grove/Boonville stretch we would love to hook up and ride with you or offer you a cold drink in the shade at least.

There are other clubs like the St. Louis Recreational Cyclists. Still a healthy riding scene in the St. Louis area.
