Anyone commuting on a 36er?
I saw someone on a 29er this morning. His itty-bitty little wheels were so cute!

incazzare.
I saw a woman on a 36er cruiser the other day! She couldn't have been taller than 5'-4". It was absolutely insane. She had to lean the bike at a 45 degree angle to put her foot on the ground at a stop.

Wow never even heard of one of those until this post. What the heck are they used for? Looks like it would be a pain to transport.

There's members of this forum that have done centuries on 36" unis.
It would be fun to have one, just to say I have one.

born again cyclist
last summer, commuting home from work one afternoon on the lakefront path, i caught up to a guy on a pennyfarthing and i started talking with him as we rode together, but sadly, it turned out he was just out for a joyride, not commuting with his awesome pennyfarthing.
one cool thing though, he told me that he had freelanced with his bike to be an extra in movies and at other events where "old-timey" stuff like a dude riding a pennyfarthing was wanted. he said he had done about a dozen such gigs over the past couple years, making about $1,000 along the way, helping defray some of the cost of the $5,000 bike.

I note seeing :
Swiss Machine ship owner Florian Schlumpf, has 2 speed uni hubs , 1.5x overdrive.
so one wheel, say a 24" clicks in to act like a 36" too.
Large Marge rims and Pugsly tires make a suspension un needed,
for off road Uni Rides.

I can't name it, but there is just something freaking cool about 36ers.
Now cut it out. My new 29er frame is still enroute and you have to post this.

the wheels/tires weigh about 20 pounds, so not for weight weenies. I already look like a child on a 29er, don't need something that big. I hear the gyroscopic forces of the wheels make so you have to think about what you are doing if you have to turn.

If the bike was a red I think I might've seen the same woman on Nostrand Avenue on my way to Brooklyn College the other day.
