Is this bike better than a 2016 Giant Defy?
My 2016 Defy is a great bike, but sometimes I wish it had some frame flex. It's all aluminum, no carbon fork. Is this any better?

I'd be very surprised if your GIant does not have a carbon fork.

Just ride fatter tires at lower pressure.

It's hard to find someone to compare two specific bikes but these folks do a comparison I would generally agree with comparing AL to carbon frames:
