A 2002 Cannondale Stars and Stripes came into the shop this week. Currently being refribed after a difficult crank removal.

It’s done! I changed out the cables for something less boring than black and had to replace the 105 crank with a carbon crank we had around the shop. I had to refinish the carbon crank (320 and 400 wet sand paper followed by clear paint) and retaped the handlebars. I think we are going to ask $600 but that is yet to be determined. I’ll provide a link when it is in the system.

Stopped at the co-op today to drop off a couple of brake calipers and a Vetta seat, and found a replacement for my damaged Sprint caliper. A good day! Smiles, MH
My damaged caliper, The heat from a house fire melted the adjuster mechanism in two.
An exact match found today in the junk caliper box.

One of the smarter things my local co-op has established is a dumpster dedicated to bikes at the local landfill/transfer station (in my day as a kid, we called it the "dump").
Its a big metal bin near the front with good signage so people know not just to place bikes in the bin, but where the bike will end up.
Best bike found in it…1980 DeRosa size 59
Worst Bike: Lots of washers and dryers for some reason.
We try to check it daily before the scrap metal thieves remove items, although they are welcome to any home appliances.

But if I could tell the neighbors where to look for the box you mentioned, then I can suggest that that dump the load at X or y place. Saves everyone a trip and maybe the bikes would get used.
so is the box at Metro South or Central?

So many volunteers of the Co-op ride their bikes to and from work.
I am the guy with the minivan who gets sent to pick up donations. Feel free to contact me and not only will I pick it up, but I’ll give you a tax deduction form.
And if you ask, I’ll send you a picture of whoever ends up with your bike.

At the Salem Or co-op, a woman recently came in.
Her husband had recently passed away. She started by donating bikes from the garage, various fixies.
then she asked if we had a truck or a van.
she had just visited the public storage unit. It was full of bikes and bike parts.
many were road bikes that were now fixies
Some ruined by cutting of the rear derailleur hangers.
my point, if you are in the market for a tall (size 62) frame, bike or assorted bits, stop by the NW Hub in Salem.

"There are a few transfer stations in the Portland area. Which one has the bike bin?"
little help: Transfer station is South of Hwy 22, SE of Gaffin rd exits/on ramps, a mile or so East of the I5 exits to Bend, SE of Salem. Oregon. Also accepts TVs/Computers, flattened Cardboard boxes, paint. There's also a used motor oil dump tank with a dumpster for your emptied containers. There's a separate building to the left, only open Tuesdays/Thursdays that accepts anti-freeze. (R & M: You kids quit arguing)

Salem, Oregon Co-op & recycling center
Hi folks,
Just to clear up this inane discussion! The Northwest Hub, located at the corner of Broadway & Market in Salem, is the designated collector for bikes/parts left at this transfer station. Please utilize the Hub for the bikes and/or parts you are interested in. Your business is greatly appreciated and supports our many community service programs. Thanks to @ollo ollo for the TS location for donations.
Cheers,
Van

As a 62cm-bike-rider not in the area, what's there? Always good to torture myself knowing what I'm missing out on.
