12 Speed Cassette on Campy N3W Freehub?

How do I properly fit a 12 speed cassette on my new wheels (Princeton Carbon Wake 6560 Evolution) which have the N3W freehub? I understand that the adapter is to fit 13 speeds for Ekar, but I am using Record 12...

Do I need to put spacers on before the cassette to push the entire cassette more outboard? Otherwise there is a gap between the 11T and 12T cogs... Or should all 12 fit without the adapter? I tried, and it seems like only 11 cogs fit without the adapter.

Hmmm

I'm only counting 11 sprockets in the picture. Spacers before the cassette will seem the likely thing. But I'm only guessing since I've never even heard or seen any of this stuff till your post here.

Seems likely that adapter for 13 might be an issue too. Do they make a adapter for 12?

Edit... did some quick googling so I could read what this thing is. If you haven't already read it, maybe it contains some clues.

I'm having way to many of those moments lately. I'm scheduled to see a neurologist!

Have you been checked for B12 vitamin deficiency?

Yep, back in 2004. I've been on cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin injections ever since.

Stuff like that happens all the time. It is those little things you forget that cause the biggest headaches. Glad you got it sorted. I looked at the picture a couple times and double counted just to make sure.

I try to play Wordle and Connections before my morning coffee. I figure that gets all (some of) my stupid mistakes out of the way early.

BTW, I’m seriously impressed that Campy opted for backwards compatibility. It’s probably because their roads groups are 12 and Ekar is 13, not because of their deep concern about customers cross compatibility.

I finally got around to tightening the lockring and now there is quite a bit of play/wobble from the cogs. I tightened the lockring down to 40nm.

Without the lockring.

Next I tried removing the cassette and putting a 12 speed spacer (2mm?) on before the cassette, which was way too much. Should I try a 1mm spacer (which I don't have...)?

I feel like I'm missing something completely obvious. I have never had such trouble installing a cassette.
