Brake Lever Hood Comatibility - HELP!
Hi, I'm having trouble figuring out how to find some replacement brake hoods.
I have some Shimano slr aero brake levers from a 105 equipped bike, probably very early 90's. The hoods are super gummed up and sticky and I'd like to replace, and they're white. I'm seeing Shimano hoods on Ebay but am not sure what to look for as far as compatibility. It seems like new hoods wouldn't fit as they'd be meant for brifters, but does anyone know if I can find new replacement hoods for older levers?
Thanks,
Brian

How bad are the hoods? I have cleaned up many sets of grungy hoods. Perhaps you can do the same. Repairing Brake Lever Hoods - Introduction.
Hope this is a help.

unfortunatly I don't think there is alot of rhym and reason to shimano hoods. it seems like even in the same year 600 and 105 will not interchange. check the model number and I'll see if I can find which ones might fit in my old quality catalogs

I think the word you're looking for, with respect to Shimano and brake lever hoods, is “combatibility.” Shimano's relentless redesign of everything guarantees that both cycling consumables, and the more durable stuff they protect, are throw-aways.
