Can't Deny!
Cruising Down Town Bastrop Texas. Its a big city of about 12,000 now that Elon is doing business down the street in Del Valley (Not Austin!). Anyway, as I was cruising, a very young kid on a dirt bike looking e-bike tore out of a driveway. He hopped the curb, skidded around a parked car, dashed in front of me, tore up the edge of the street against traffic, then wheeled over the other curb, and up a driveway, cutting across the other house's back yard to the other street. He was wearing Flip Flops, short pants, a tank top, and nothing else.
I should be thinking... How unsafe and absurd.
But really I cannot deny....

Wow!
I wish they'd play it a little safer not only for themselves but for all of us. And even follow the Rules of the Road. But then again, I remember how it was when I was a kid, invincible.
We've got a good thing going here and if people start getting banged-up in large numbers they're just going to come down on us with a ton of rules and regulations. We'll become just another class of motor vehicle, god forbid. It's like me and my putt-putt, quiet and unoffensive. I blend in, fly under the radar, follow the Rules of the Road.
Or maybe I'm jealous I can't do that anymore...

Skill comes with practice.
I suspect with enough saddle time, most riders can develop riding skills that ensure safe & risky maneuvers.
Whether they endangering the public while sharing the roads (or terrain) with others is a separate issue.
I used to be young and fearless, too. But to have survived as long as I have on two-wheel vehicles I'm just grateful to be able to keep going for as long as I can.

Oh now that belongs in the tandem thread lol! Makes me want to try it on mine but would probably not be a happy ending!
