Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

DUI and death will generally never be treated with a slap on the wrist, regardless of what the victim was in or on. This is a good thing.

I think the punishment for ANY drunk driving should be so severe that even drunk people won't consider it.This guy was killed because that stupid girl got wasted and decided to drive her damn self down the road.Half the people in US can't drive worth crap when sober much less drunk.I'm getting pretty sick of this.My condolences go out the family.Sounds like Paul was a really nice guy.

Wow, later in the article:

"
While deputies were at the scene of the crash, another person suspected of drinking and driving barreled through barricades and cones that were set up, Woolridge said.
The driver, a 20-year-old man, struck an unoccupied patrol car, flipped and slid into a second patrol car carrying a Sheriff's Department volunteer, Woolridge said.
The volunteer was not injured, nor were two deputies and a forensic technician who narrowly missed being struck, he said."

That's terrible.

She's facing a 2nd degree murder charge. I sure hope they carry through with it, though.

So why does the involvement of alcohol make this more serious than the last case? This country is ****ed up.

Drunk driving- the driver made a stupid decision (choice) which lead to a death
Downloading ringtones- the driver made a stupid decision (choice) which lead to a death

The only difference is that drunk driving is illegal and cell phone driving is not. Read this article and tell me that makes sense.

Christmas cheer. Everyone be careful out there. Lots of holiday parties between now and January. The victim sounds like a great guy. The driver the exact opposite.
